Ice Bar..

Have been asked at my venue to make an ice bar for October Wedding Fayre any ideas where I start with this project?

My research so far...

Size 2m in length 1 m high

Made in ice lol..

Sits on a metal tray/pan

To make clear ice boil twice then freeze

Was thinking o making 4 box templates and to freeze them in the walk in freezer.



Questions...

How do you fuse two pieces of ice together?

Would i be best to reinforce the top with the likes of perspex.

Has anyone seen one close up that they know how they are but together?

Just general info of what you know.

Yes, a little bit of warm (not hot) water between the blocks will refreeze and act as mortar betwen the blocks.

As im a Highlly skilled cabinetmaker Im sure i can work with ice.....

A little bit of thought and it will happen tried my first effort last nite the diffrence of bolied water v unboiled frozen quite a diffrence......

Well as the saying goes the truth is in the pudding.....

Our wedding Fayre does not have that amount of cash at its disposal so i thought it was at least worth giving it a try, would be a bit of a laugh...

WELL..

How many of Ice sculptures artists have made a cabinet......

That will be the reason for so many DIY centers then..

So no harm in at least trying..We are all capable of a lot more than you think..

What would happen if the same set of circumstances were in our industry. Oh well, we haven't got enough money for a DJ, so lets get a hi fi from home and a ropelight and hope it works OK......

I knew I had a picture somewhere. This is from a corporate event we did a few years back. This is a vodka luge sculpted from ice.

With the right dj playing the rite music it may go down well...I though in here its not what you spend on your gear but how you use it...(Ps my hi fi in the house would work quite well)

Thats what i would never consider doing...In saying that the company i spoke to told me most carvings are done with lazer machines and cleaned up by hand...

A daft question but what has an ice bar got to do with the DJ.
Surely if the B&G want things like this its up to them or whoever is organising the wedding to quota for and to get the people in who actually do this for a living then everything is perfect on the day.

As a DJ were do we stop when it comes to providing other services.
Its been said before about bands also doing the disco and how it should be left to the experts, surely this is an even bigger example of sticking to what you know??????

Good question..Well as i work for the hotel as an DJ/lighting/visuals/av presentations/singer/MC and advise bands whats required before they come its all about helping the hotel(Football Club)make look even better..

Example..

I recently used my skills to make ramps to allow motor vehicle's to drive into the hotel reception and that was not a easy task...

Also i made the housings for the plasmas so they could be attached to the windows..

Make the design the flyer's for the local bar..

So where does it stop when I'm not able to make it...lol

As for what i know....Well too bloody much..(thats joking of course dont take offence)

Must admit on the computer/web design side I do at times go a bit further as I used to also be a carpenter & joiner prior to re-training to do PCs.
I do quite allot for a caravan company down here in regards to their website and maintenance on their computers, but also use my other skills when work is a bit quiet like fitting doors and whatever ells comes up.

I suppose if a company doing discos is down as entertainments then the job description can be endless to what actual services you can offer.
