Best way wirring up?

Hya folks, just looking for some ideas on how to wire the lights up on the top bar of the deck stand.

The lighting will be changing from time to time so will basically need possibly 2 different options available.

For the rock shows:
At the moment all I will be using is 2 dinarocks on the top 6` bar (possibly something ells in the middle but not sure yet).
So with these lights and without pre-wiring the bar, what can I use to connect the 2 dinaricks together (power wise) so I have a single lead going down the uprights to my 8 iec switch unit?

I have seen a couple of options, one would be to use the splitter shown below and make some leads up the right size.
But not sure how good these splitters are?

Option two would be to use the ready made y cables.
Again am not sure whether they are any good or not or even whether they are long enough between the y section to reach each light.
The pick below is of the 3 way one which would give me the option for a center light.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated, especially if you have or do use these items or have a better alternative?
This is just for the rock show side at the moment as the disco side will probably have more lights to be wired up :rolleyes:

The Y cables on their own generally are not long enough you still need 2x short cables as well , the splitters are OK but my advice would be make up your own cables to the right length you need individually 1 to 7 etc then just buy a couple of splitters & Ys and use them only if you only need to.

The splitters are ok.
I have one to power scanners at either end of a 3m truss.
they are IEC in and out so I simply have a 3m M/F Lead that runs along the top bar to the furthest one and another that runs down the upright to power the splitter.
Two very short leads then 'gender change' them to plug into the lights.

For my dynamos (i have 4) i use the "Y" cables, as there is only one cable coming down the upright.

y leads are available in different lengths from terralec in southend and make a neat solution on your truss.

Just been looking at the other similar thread and am liking the "Show Director",
I think this may be from a "safety" point of view the best option and with the added bonus of being a more user friendly option.
The same setup would cover both the rock shows and the discos with possibly additional short fly leads to the individual lights.

One question I do have for anybody using the "Show Director", is are they OK to use with so called intelligent lighting effects, such as datamoons etc?

Yes, they are okay to use with any light, as it just switches them on and off

They are rather large though - check to make sure you have space to put it on your bar/truss.

Below is a basic setup purely for the rock shows, not too many lights needed??
Eventually may get a couple of moving head for between the stand and the speakers and placed on the flight case on the floor.

If anybody has any views good or bad, any suggestions or can see any potential problems with this rig please let us know :D

Wow! I think that'll look really good :)

I wouldn't suggest getting the Director then, as it's not really needed, as there aren't alot of lights up there. Just get extended IEC cables that reach the ground to plug into extension cables.

The reason for thinking of getting the show director is so I have the option of adding more lights as when am doing traditional discos ill be using other lights like the impossibled along with the dinarocks.

This is my bar from a couple of years ago, all prewired. It's changed a few times since then, but will give you an idea.

From the front there's hardly anything on display at all.

Have you had any other dealings with this company? I ask because they are offering TWO LED barrel scanners for £110! (I assume it's per pair)

No dealings, but I met them personally at PLASA last year, 'cos I nearly bought a couple of those small moving heads from them.

They are an importer of lighting etc
