OK now its confused you as some of the tracks are obviously not from the 60's LOL Yes last sunday was a weird disco but I had to stick to the clients wishes??? and in the process upset his party guests by playing nothing deiviating from the list if possible???

Well done Karl-D Spot on With your answer. Yes there were many friends of his party very gee'd off with the music staticness. It seems his mother had a major say in the choice of the songs as he was not dancing either if anything he jigged to a couple he actually knew.. I felt sorry for all of his mates, and him. As this was one sure way of never getting anyone to go to one of his birthday parties ever again??????? Loss of school credibility for the birthday boy will be resoundingly painfull for the lad.

His mother had the right idea for a 60's theme party with all the kids dressed up for the part. But to ban cheesy kids party tunes from all generations killed the night. And as ever with most parties of this age the parents dissappeared off into the cafe area and hardly partisapated in dancing etc etc. The only time we saw them was when they came to do the birthday cake.

We got a thanks for a great night from the mother, the birthday boy just seemed barely happy all night??? No supprise there considering the mother got to hear her tunes all night????? maybe the birthday boy did as well, but none of the guests did???

I can understand why the birthday boy and his mates were a bit cheesed, but personally I'd have been ecstatic with a playlist like that to go at, some top quality music on there. I don't half play some rubbish on a regular basis. ;) ;) ;) :(

Funnily enough, I had something similar happen to me yesterday.

I've got a golden wedding booked and the lady rang me to tell me their requests. Bear in mind this lady is 75...

Amongst others are:

DJ Caspar - cha cha slide

This is in comparison to a golden wedding I did a few months ago who wanted all strict tempo and easy listening.

Im doing a joint 21st and 60th in November.

Same scenario--Ill take the 21 yr olds requests--hate them--smile--play them--get paid and go home.

Right for those that didn't get the answer, it was a 13th birthday that the mother controlled / dictated the music policy hence ruining the night for the birthday boy and his mates by acting so strict with the music policy. I was very agrieved but had to stick too the nights policy. I wish sometimes parents would keep there noses out of parties to a degree. I really feel sorry for the birthday boy as this party will only Isolate him from his mates in the long run. Trust me I had plenty of requests that had to be turned down??? The only thing bithday boy could do was to ask for the music to be louder as thats what kids of that age only seem too like?? Everyone was gagging for modern music??? That's a pain... Had one a while ago with a very long list - thatw as, in fact, pretty good. However last Saturday I have a very varied list that was never going to work. We kept throwing in our own suggestions to keep people coming back to the dance floor. Whenever we went back to the list, we lost most dancers but had to cover most of the list.
When the bride left, I went to requests and my own selections and kept the dancefloor full until time to go.
At the end, brides mum, some of the odler folks came over and said it was a great night. The younger ones wanted us to play on...
