Hi everyone.
I have been playing with a free trial of dj software, and i have transfered a few cds onto my laptop.
When i play the songs back on the laptop, i can hear little popping noises on some of the tracks, like little popping sounds, a bit like a record ( remember those? ) with a a scratch on it. one of the tracks is skipping like a damaged cd.
Now, i am getting this sound when playing the tracks throught the dj software, and when playing through Windows Media Player, but when i put the cd into my cd player/ mixer, or any cd player there is no strange sounds.
Can someone please advise me what the problem is ?.

What DJ software is it?

What's the spec of your PC (roughly - i.e. is it new and decent or ancient and creaking at the seams)?

Sounds like it could be your sounds/audio acceleration settings might need changing.

I use Virtual DJ and pretty much leave the audio settings as default (only small minor adjustments) I once started playing around with them and was getting all sorts of wierd noises and couldn't remember what the defaults were, eventually re-installed it and it's now fine.

I also think that the free trials also might 'adjust' the sound a little so it can't be 'cracked' and used it illigally - might be wrong on this though.

The thing is, that i am getting these noises when i play thr track through Windows Media Player, by the way i am listening throught headphones, so perhaps i will not be able to hear it through the disco speakers, although i am not confident about that.

Do you know how i would change that.

I have now sorted this problem out.
I found the solution on the net.
I changed the power setting on the laptop to maximum performance, and it worked. :D :D :D :D :D :D
