Do you ever use the history function on your laptop to remind you of what you played, when you played it and the order?

Just wondering because there are a few guys i know who swear by it, i personally dont use it (because my programme will not automatically store history unless i manually save it)

They use it during their nights to help jog their memory on what to play next, i think that every gig is diifferent so i dont bother saving it

I use OTSAV, which automatically logs the playlist by date. I can then ditch unwanted ones and hang on to or print out any I want.

Useful, especially when you are trying to remember what you actually played in that set which went so well last week.

Only ever use it to look back on good mini sets I've put together...I, like you, perform each and every gig on the fly (obviously, with a few pre concieved ideas about what kind of night it is) much more fun that way!

Yep, I use Virtual DJ and it saves it automatically by date.

I use it quite a bit if I feel I've strung some good songs together or if I've had a good wedding/birthday etc.

I know all events are different but it can help jog the memory sometimes.

One thing I miss using the cortex as opposed to laptop. I can't see what I have already played or save the list for future reference.

I keep a copy of all my playlists. I put a selection on my web site. This gives people the opportunity to have a look and see the types of music I have.

I take a selection of them with me to client meetings, so if they ask what type of music I play, they can see the variations.

I take about 12 weeks worth with me to discos, just incase I need my memory jogging.

So all in all it's a worthwhile exercise for me.

i use it sometimes as its extreamly handy for example i did a 25th wedding annaversary and played a 60's set which was awesome and had the floor full and the comments i had after were very positive. So at a wedding i did i was asked for lots of 60's so i used the history folder and played the tracks i had played previous and it went down a storm. Its not something i would do all the time as it would become boaring but when needed its there

i use PCDJVJ and using the history folder is very easy
