I seem to recall that someone posted a link to a decent radio mic system that had two handsets as standard for a good price - can't seem to find it... any suggestions?

The Shure twin set may be twice as much (and a bit more) than the KAMs but when you are still using the Shure mics in 5 years time others will be on their 3rd set of KAM mics...:bang:

£300 is a great price.

Agreed.

Instead of going that route, I got two individual mics, with the thinking that if the twin died, then I'd have nothing. If one of the singles died, then I'd still have another one.

I've had a set of these for well over 2 years and they're great for the money; fine with spoken vocals (probably a bit suss for singers but good enough for DJing & speeches) AND they are very easy on the batteries. Good budget choice.

Good budget choice.

I do have a set and think they are OK for the money but if the OP has the budget (which I didn't when I bought my KAM set) and can stretch to £300 then the Shure is a very sensible purchase and will outlast any budget Chinese version by years.

I've had both and the Shures are far superior to the Kams if you have the budget.

Personally speaking, I never thought the Kams were good enough for DJing with.

Nor do I. I wouldn't want them as my main radio mic.

They are OK for speeches though which is what I use them for, as long as they don't drop the signal which has happened to me.

Which is why Shure is a long standing industry standard and people ask for them all the time. Sennheiser & AKG make some lovely mics too, which are also industry standards to specific applications (eg: C747s on lecterns, C451s on overheads, etc.)

No one has ever asked me to provide a Kam mic (or a Kam anything for that metter) - which is fortunate as there's none on our inventory.

The best mid-point between cheap and good ;-)

I appreciate what has been said about the life of the Shure, and I'd love to have an SM58 just for the history of it, but at this stage I just need something to last 18 months to 2 years and be reasonably reliable over that time. So, along the lines of what you were saying, Daz, a good(ish) single mic/receiver that I could buy two of would be ideal.
