Foot Switch

Hiya all.. hope someone can help me here.

At the moment I use a Pioneer CDJ200 CD Player to play my backing tracks on (MP3's) I was doing a show last night with another artiste who had a double foot switch - one to add reverb and the other to start his tracks from his mini disk player. What i currently do is have auto cue on then when im ready to start the song hit play and it goes straight into it.. which is great, but i would love to be able to do this without having to go to the side of the stage.. so my question is.. can i get a foot switch to use with my CD player.

Hi Kerri,

Its a relativly simple task that any techie can do for you, the top needs to come off the cd player and then a wire needs soldering on to the play button contacts this wire can then lead to a jack socket that can be installed on the rear of the machine. then all you need do is connect a jack plug to said footswitch and your away.
I have done a few of these modifications to minidisc players for singers like yourself , usual charge is £50 including parts.

Alternative would be to use the start button on the handset for the Mini Disc player which could be sited conveniently a little way away from the player.

If your strumming a guitar with the other hands :eek:

then fair enough go for the foot pedal :D

Sorry to mention this but you now need a Pro dub licence if using copied Min Discs, unless an original.

I just liked the way his set up was.. he didnt go near his kit as he had a pedal for go and one for reverb.

You don't want to be messing with your insides! That'd be your warranty gone, and any Pioneer authorised repair centre won't touch it after the warranty if youd been messing.

The CDJ 200 has a fader start feature via a 3.5mm jack connection. Simply connect a foot switch typically used by guitarists to trigger the footstart. Without looking at the Pioneer manual I'm unsure as to the way switch works for that model, so best having a quick read through, then pop to your local musical instrument shop and have a chat with them to get the right one, and an adapter to convert the 6.3mm jack it'll come with into a 3.5mm jack.

This option, will be cheaper, easier, and you've got no risk of anything going wrong.

Thanks for that info.. i wasnt too keen on having anything done for the reasons you stated.. I will dig out the manual and check this out.
