Gentlemen:

Further on from the above thread I would like to ask a question.

If you have somebody call for a quote and the chat ends with the "OK I will call you back after speaking with so and so"

How long do you think it is feasible to wait for their return call?

Would you contact them if nothing is heard? or would you leave it?

I find they never call back.

Would you contact them if nothing is heard? or would you leave it?
If they want you they will ring back.

I quote then move on. If they're interested they'll call back.

For individual clients, yes. If it's a venue though, I follow up several times.

No, follow up.

I take it he means...'Try and track down the right person that has been the point of contact.'

Venue staff change.

Can't remember the last time, but I know this has happened on occasion, and I'd say it was about 50/50 whether you ever hear from them again.

If it's a private client I won't bother chasing it up. Plenty of other fish.

I offer to take their number and call them if I get any other enquiries for their date, if this is met with resistance then I know i'm wasting my time. If not, then I'd ring them back if I had another enquiry for the same date within the same week.

I always follow everything up, the most difficult thing in selling is to make your phone ring - anyone showing the slightest interest has got to be given the opportunity to say no.
