What is the smallest venue that you have played in

Well tonight must be the smallest room that i have ever played in.It was a wedding reception for around 75 guests at a hotel.

.When i got there to set up i was told that they do not have a function room and would be setting up in the restuarant.Well it was tiny with only room for about 24 people .

Most of the smokers and drinkers stayed outside in the beer garden which was next to the restaurant and came into dance and then went back outside again.

So what is the smallest venuethat you have played in?

Funnily enough the smallest I have ever played in was friday night. It was a pub with a room for 16 people. The wedding was over 3 rooms with 30 - 40 guests but my room was smaller than my own front room. Once my rig and I was in the room it was halved in size as well.

Someones lounge for a kids party. Used next to nothing which was reflected in the price.

Played in the back of a transit van only last week :)

The audience were outside. It was the Sandown Carnival.

Obviously didn't have the goalpost set up, just a few LEDs and lasers due to not having several kW spare for lighting :)

I used to play a lot of small pubs when I started out, and also some small restaurants. You really do have to compromise on which equipment you take though!

Smallest place I've played in was a few years back and was in an office for a local paper on a weekday just before Christmas for a staff christmas party in the day. There were about 20 people and it was only for 2 hours and they didn't move any of the desks out of the way. I couldn't set up my goalposts and ended up putting my decks on someone's desk and moving their monitor to the side. Managed to get them all up for the full 2 hours though and it was actually pretty good.

i played on the toop deck of a converted double decker bus the other week. It had a tiny dancefloor and a few lights, you could get about ten people up there at once. still it was great fun.

The bus wasn't moving by the way !

I've done the living room in an ordinary sized house. 2 small speakers in corners behind seats and lights on curtain poles, me in another corner.

I also often play an old peoples home where we are in the living/dining room. It's a small home, just a medium-sized house. I only need one speaker and no lights as it's an afternoon show. I set up in the hatch to the kitchen (no stand space).

Last night must be a good candidate...
Unfortunately I can't really cut my rig back much, as it's intended more for stage use than a small room, but I was asked to do the job anyhow, despite my warnings about the amount of room it would take up - about half of the dance area. I have turned away bookings for this venue before, on account of this.

In fact it worked well, as there was a patio and another room available for the guests, but there wasn't much room for dancers, although this actually helped with the atmoshere.

There's a photo on my daughter's phone somewhere - if I can get hold of it I'll post it up if this thread is still running.

Not played at many 'overly' small venues but played at larger venues with very little room - especially with bands. Had one where I could not even fit a micromax stand and 2 12" speakers in.

had a strange request some years ago, when i was hired for a haloween gig in somebody's garden in a marque that they had hired, but when i reached the venue i actully found that the wind had got up and the marque had actully blown off down the garden and bent it out of shape i ended up doing the gig in there garage thankfully a double garage it ended up being a regular occurance 2 or 3 times from the same person. everybody loved it inc the kids. all in all a good nights work. must have been about 35 kids and a few parents.

The smallest venues I've worked at have been the front rooms of a couple of houses, probably not much more than about 15 feet square.
