digital dj controllers

just woundering if anyone has used the hercules rmx or used the american audio dp-2usb controller.
what i am wanting to do is the kam rack case with the sliding bit for laptop.
i am after a dj controller like the 2 mentioned because they have a mixer kind of built in dont really want a hard drive controller
anyone got any recomendations
i wish some one done an all in one controller that has one side with mic channels
and the other side for dmx lighting and the middle for djing vjing

why mic channels, just take the mic via laptop, or a small mixer to go beween laptop and pa system, i think a good rackmount pc is what you need matey, cheers damo

depends on what you want matey, the thinest i build them is 2u, but i much prefur 3u though, i would say half the weight as a normall computer really, as the motherboard are mirco ones, and the hard drives are 3.5inch aka laptop style.

Laptop drives are 2.5".

But a 3.5" drive is normal size and 2'5" is laptop size. There's no such thing as laptop style!

If your using "laptop style" components then why stick it all in massive 3U case? Doesn't that defeat the point?

If you want to keep the weight down you can't go far wrong with the short depth Avrio cases.

I use an older Herc Mk11 with VDJ.
Looking at the spec - basically the same thing.
TBH only really use the cross fader, volumes, Bas Treble Mid, do the rest on the PC, but it all goes into a mixing desk anyway, as I have other channels for MICs and stuff with doin karaoke. I find most of the other controls too troublesome on it, i.e the little buttons and stuff.
Personally I would like to see a controller that was easier to use and had more access to the samples, but hey ho..............

As far as I'm aware, all laptops now have 2.5" drives, which is what I said.

I have no problem with you. I don't like incorrect information being posted. Nearly all new laptops have 2.5" drives. You were talking about building a new PC, so I assumed you had made a mistake by saying 3.5" laptop drive. Unless of course you'd be using an old 3.5" drive from an old laptop to build a new rackmount PC?

1.8inch drives haven't been on the market that long by the looks of it and seem to be used in Ipods and ultra portable machines.

Anyway, we are way off topic here.

and why would i use old parts, when they still manufacture 3.5inch drives and my parts are all 100% brand new, i dont sell or buy dodgy stuff
