Whats the best player/controller for digital dj'ing

Hi all,

Have taken the leap and decided to go digital, so bought two new laptops - Asus make, with coolers etc. I would really appreciate your advice and help on completing my set-up.

I am hoping to buy a player/controller, so I can do digital dj'ing and still have the option to play disc's just in case. Oh, and I also need to be able to do karaoke. So you advice and help on suitable software that will run on a player/controller to do karaoke would also be welcomed, with help on an appropriate rack mount case or similar.

I intend to use my Dynacord Powermate 1000 to mix and power the system, with EV speakers bins and tops.

Any advice and help you can give would be appreciated.:)

asus good choice, and laptop coolers, a VERY good choice, many people on here use virtual dj and some use other things like swift elite, numark and the pioneer ones, i would just check out the websites to take a look at what you fancy mate, or how about doing a search for your choosen software on here theirs tons of threads about controllers and softwares, cheers for now

I looked at the Pioneer mep7000, but its too expensive, and when I looked at the manual, it would appear that it may not play all types of discs. also wont play them if there is any bit of dust or scratch on them. This is according to their own manual, so a lot of money without the guarantee it will work on the night.

the next one I am looking at is the Denon HD2500, think I got the name right, but this is also expensive. Just paid £1900 for the two lappies with coolers, and also need to buy the caddy's (ext. disc drives), the case to house them etc.

The main thing is it needs to be able to play karaoke, just in case the laptops go down.

Ya know about that one. I bought this supposed top of the range/make and it totally died after 3 months. So need to pick carefully.

what i would do is buy a little 1u rackmount case, install harddrive into that, put some fans inside it, their you have a rackmount hard drive lol

Sound good.

Have seen this case I might buy for the player/controller, when I pick which one I think is up to the job. Looks good and I can put my keyboard on the top just in front of the controller bit.

yeah you could or you could buy a normall flightcase, buy a keyboard rackmount draw, and get a 1u hinge tft bracket, all in one dj system lol
