Whats the longest Disco you have done/would do.

I recently had an enquirey for an 8hr wedding disco. I explained about my 5hr standard package and the £20 per additional hour charge and he was fine with that but I wasnt happy at the thought of 8hrs standing playing music. I negotiate down to 6hrs and we are both happy with that.

What is the longest you would do/have done?

I did a 24hour disco for my aunty who did a 24hour dance-a-thon thing,

every 5hours i got a 30minute break, members of my family had a go which was quite fun watching them with the headphones on etc.

I set-up one day before and packed up a day after the 24hr event.

in my early years i did 1pm until midnight wedding ..... got paid rubbish for it and really regret doing it now.

Hmm the longest would have to be a charity event, 11am till 11.30pm, :)

Many years ago I quite often used to do gigs that went on till breakfast and started at 7 or 8; so it must have been 10 or 11 hours. Havent done anything like that for a long time now.

1pm to 11pm for a Thai families party day. Bar was free and food was non-stop all I wanted to eat. Music for most of the afternoon was from their own pre-mixed CDs. Few party games every now and again broke the thing up for me.

Have done a few weddings starting early afternoon and finishing midnight or later. I have found that during the afternoon it was really just background music. If kids are there I play some games and have a few party dances (just my preference as I know not all dj's like kids parties). It is suprising how quick the time goes and often find by about 10 people are getting tired and I revert to more 'sing-a-long' music.

Once did a disco in a ladies lingerie/sexy clothes shop 10am til 6pm they wanted top music all day long, there was 3 models dancing most of the day in front of me wearing the underwear etc, which was great cause it wasn't much, customers walking in trying stuff on and asking me to hand stuff to them in the changing room, weird but good fun ;)
It was the shop was next door to mine so didn't have to travel far, I went back to my shop for a little break at one point and picked up what I thought was some cooling spray cause I was getting a little hot, I didn't realise it was hairspray that belonged to one of the girls that worked for me and sprayed it in my face & eyes :eek:

I get the odd one now near me like that. Private roads, so drink can safely be taken. :D Nowadays I find them great fun, but much more tiring. :( :(

The longest disco that i have ever done was 12 midday untill 11pm.All my meals were provided.I had a couple of 30 minute breaks also

Seriously, the longest gig I've done was a wedding. It was on a friday from midday to 10pm. It wasn't too bad as it was really two separate shows with an hours background music in the middle. From 12 til 5 was a show mainly for the kids (who weren't allowed in the venue for the night time), then an hours background then an adults show from 6-10pm.

As for how long I'd do, I suppose it depends on the money. I was offered a 36hour gig for the millenium but I'd already bought tickets for an event I wanted to go to so I had to turn down the offer. Besides, they were offering nowhere near what I'd have wanted for that (they offered £600 but this isn't even £20 an hour!)

7 hours is the longest I've done, but that is an exception. I would do longer but the fee would rise exponentially (or very nearly).

The big problem would be music - there's only so much well-known danceable music out there, and if you weren't to repeat yourself it would mean delving into the nether regions of the box...

Heck! I may even have to go back to the fifties! (No bad thing, to be honest.)
