How much power does a D2 draw?

I'm planning to get a UPS for my digital console, to avoid any problems with my D2 or ipod if the power goes off unexpectedly...particularly due to badly set sound limiters.

Before I know what kind of rating to look for, I need to know how much power my D2 draws. The technical spec in the manual doesn't give this information, so does anybody know how many watts a D2 draws?

I'm guessing it's probably no more than about 50 watts, but I could be completely wrong, so does anybody know the actual or rough figure?

Hmmm... interesting question. Off the cuff, I'd say you're about right, surely no more than 100W.

If no-one can answer, the only thing I can think of is to plug it into one of those power usage monitor devices. I keep meaning to get one myself, just to prove to my 'ignorant' brother that a full fridge uses more power than an empty one!

I know it's not an accurate answer, as I can't find the Numark specs anywhere, but the Cortex draws the immense sum of TWELVE WATTS! :eek:

I intend to get one of those aswell as i am intending to prove to my parents that a modern pc doesn't draw as much power as they think.

I have just had a look through the Numark D2 manual and couldn't find anything on how much powe the unit draws. I think the denon draws are 40 watts but it is a more complex unit (not waving anything at all).

I shouldn't think it would no more than 30 watts. Just a guess

If the Cortex draws 12 watts & the Denon draws 40, I assume the D2 is somewhere between the two, so Tom's guess of 30 watts probably isn't too far out.

if the denon is drawing 40watts, i would say the d2 wouldnt draw more or less, i have check the manual and theirs nuffing about it inside the bloody thing, surly their is a little sticker on the back stating it ?, their are on more or less things thesedays, and yes i believe a fridge does use more power full than empty, but the fridge would use more or less then an empty fridge when the food as been cooled to the right operating temperature, cheers damian

a pc could have a 1,000watt power supply or an 350watt power supply, the computer will only draw the power it needs to operate, but if you have a too little power supply you would have problems, cheers

I know this doesn't help answer your question, but I've got one of the power monitor things and have found it quite interesting how little power things draw (in a sad, techy kind of way!)

For instance I did a good size all LED light show the other day, and clocked the whole thing at a massive 180W in total!

Not sure on the specifics Rob but I have a 450VA UPS which is small and light buried in my console box along with:

- a d2
- a DMX master
- a Numark CM200USB
- a KAM 1940 mic receiver
- a powered 3.5" HDD

and it's kept that lot running for over an hour before now (ie before I realised I hadn't plugged it into the mains :eek: )

Never done a complete 'drain' test but any power cut exceeding 60 minutes would see me on my way home I reckon.

Rob, a small matter, but just plug the D2 and small kit into it. You'd need quite a big one for your 3Kw PA and 5Kw Lightshow.;)

I'm ahead of you, Excalibur.

I'll only plug my console into the UPS, and all that contains is my D2 and mixer (there is also a single CD player built into my console, but this doesn't get switched on).

Everything else (lighting & amp) will continue to be plugged directly into the mains, as none of it has ever been damaged by the power going off.
