Air Guitar??

I am thinking this would be a fun thing to have at weddings. Some guests pretend to play guitar when they do some rock songs at a wedding.

I am looking at getting some inflatable guitars and putting them out for a rock songs at discos.

Maybe this would be cool. especially when the bride and groom look back at the photos of their reception and see some of the family and friends on the dancefloor with inflatable guitars. As you will sometimes get some guests that will love that sort of thing or even the bride and groom.

that could be a good idea - certainly for memorable photos etc - remember to add them into your fee though! chances of getting them back intact may be very slim! should be able to pick them up for a few quid though?

Air guitar involves the playing of an imaginary guitar hence the air part of the equation. Once there is a physical guitar (be it cardboard, inflatable or a real one) the air part is lost :sj:

Depends on the wedding! I did a rock wedding last month, the groom's rock band played at the reception - and I lost all my inflatable guitars that night, everyone took them home.

Got another one (rock wedding) in October, will have to restock before then. :cool:

Inflatable instruments were done to death 2 or 3 years ago before they hit the pound shops and were a bit of a novelty (a bit like glowsticks IMHO) and I feel that with the odd rare exception (eg getting dads & lads playing along to 'Ace of Spades' for granny's camera) they're old hat.

I bought a dozen about a year ago and I've still got 3 or 4 in wrappers. I used to go through about a dozen a month.

MUCH funnier than the guitars IMHO are the saxophones - chuck a few at the boys when you're playing 'One Step Beyond' and you'll find yourself playing it at least 2 or 3 times :D

That guitar bit was great so glad we haven't now just got a set of photos thus:

I see the reception as a memory creating excersise and like to give clients something to talk about for years to come. As i said i have had nothing but very positive comments if you do it right, the emphasis is on that part and you also have to be a good judge of a crowd , i discuss this part of the show at pre function meeting with bride and grooms.

i used to use them quite a bit a year or so ago but haven't recently - mainly as i ran out and not got around to getting anymore... i'll have to dig out the photos when i get home... oh and I never expect to get them back at gigs after handing them out....

I even went a stage further and got some permanent marker pens and put my web address in big letters down the back of the guitar neck and then a version of my logo with my web address on the front of them... that way even if people did take them (which they always did) they then had all my contact details for future events.

I gave away inflatable saxaphones/guitars and also 2ft microphones and they went down really well with guests. Only bought them as my local Poundland had them on a half price offer, so were a good buy.
I personally wouldn't use them at weddings though, more for the "normal" type of function than a posh wedding.

depends what and how you do it hey Rob , let's be honest you naked infront of granny at a gig is just plain offensive and a ridiculous comparison to make isn't it???


if it is done right it can be tasteful and create a photo opportunity that will be talked about positively for a very long time,

Sounds like a good laff.

On the first disco I worked for they tried anything and everything to make the disco look better than everyone elses. They every type of light and effect. They even had Tom and Jerry running on a projector.

She said its a good idea. Which i agree it will make it enjoyable.

i have for a couple of years and still do use inflatable guitars and saxaphones, and find at most parties the crowd grab them off me as soon as they come out of the kit bag, and usually people clammer to take pics and laugh wildly.

but at one or two receptions the crowd didn't respond, its like anything else - horses for courses, but it does make for good photos, i use this as a selling point on my promo video coz it's just another way of bringing an element of fun to someone's party.
