Well this weekend i had a nice long weekend at a Steam Rally showing the family Land Rover, I worked on saturday night but being in Leeds at Harewood house where the show was it wasn't a problem. Anyway we came to Monday the last day, At the side of us was a Willis jeep with all weapons on it, In the back there was also weapons but the vehicle was sheeted over when dark fell, Anyway i was alerted that a Thompson Sub-Machine gun had gone missing. For those of you that do not know what a Thompson is i would suggest google images and have alook as i do not want to post pictures of weapons on a family forum.
Anyway all gun shops have been contacted with the Deactivation number and provided with a certificate so they know not to accept the gun if it is brought to them, The police have been notified and the 1st question "Is it live?"
Second question "Why was it in a Jeep"
Repsonses were, "We were at a military show showing it, No it's not live"

The police are very concernced because if this weapon gets into the wrong hands then there could be a serious crime commited, I will also add that i think the thieves knew what they were taking, I don't think they knew what they were taking when they took Dan's Par56

my second thought is perhaps the 2 thefts are linked....

The thief now has a Thompson Machine gun with LED Par 56 attachment so they can see who they are shooting at night by battery.

The gun was fixed into the vehicle by a security chain but not exactly a challenge for a good pair of bolt cutters.

Yep they are either military weapon enthusiasts or criminals as they knew what they were coming for and where to find it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely the act of theft makes them criminals anyway?

I must say the jeep owners security system leaves a lot to be desired. I would't be surprised if they were prosecuted for that as well.

It was on a private show ground and the organisation insureance covers the vehicles to have their weapons left in them, I am not so stupid I unchain my guns from our Land Rover and lock them in the boot of the car as we always take a second vehicle.

It was an Ex Military show where people show their vehicles off, People have deactivated guns for show purposes only like and and the guy who got his gun stolen, Yes guns are for mugs but these are for SHOW purposes only.

I go too many of these shows (steam rallies) and there are tons of military related things, and all guns are de-activated.

Some real police work to do for a change then......

Plastic cap guns look just as real......thought item's like this had to be locked away in a strong box...?

I would also edit your post as some people maybe looking at this and know where to go to at your next show....just a thought...:)

Had the pleasure of fireing a Thompson last October in Arizona my friend is a Sheriff out there and had use of the range lovley weapon and extreamly advanced for its time
