Ive been saying this for a long time--unless your requirements are very limited music wise (which mine are sometimes) you benefit from your full selection instead of flaffing around picking what you hope are the vital tracks on the back up machine.

When I downsize to Barn Dance and Country Discos only it will be perfect:D

Twinspin has one, which may possibly be for sale at some point. It looks an excelleny bit of kit, I've never used it myself, only seen it running as background. Unless you simply want something to use for background, the Cortex must win since they're the same price now I think. You could still feed a Cortwx with flash drives if you didn't want a complete HD setup initially.

I would say its easier to just copy the whole of your HD on to a back up one-
and use the Cortex with it.

You'd actually need a Produb even if you only had one SD card. (Unless you already had a licence with tracks to spare on it )

It looks like a reasonably good piece of kit, although rather restricting, so probably only useful as back up.

It only seems to takes the SD cards, and even the large ones won't hold that many songs.

Shame there's no facility to connect flash stick drives, hard drives or ipods.

The SDJ1 is handy to have. I use mine at my resident hotel for background music during the day.

It makes things easier for the hotel having the required background music on a sd card.

the one i dont like about it though is the screen. the text goes all funny sometimes. but it still works ok.

A lot more sensible - you would have more options instead of just being restricted to sd cards. :D

As a cortex converter I would highly reccomend them to anyone.

And as a man who used a Denon last night, I would agree wholeheartedly. The Cortex is simple and intuitive. Anyone who can type and press play can use it. In my humble and limited experience, not so with the Denon.

On a serious note--unusually--I would say its a question of needs.

I dont need an all singing dancing machine in my particular job--if I did I might go for the Pioneer Machine I saw in the DJ shop Friday---talk about high tech--over a grand though:eek: :eek: :eek:

All I need is straight playout with no effects.

Cortex does that---if you want more go to Denon or Pioneer--
