Somewhat off forum topic.... but..
I have a friend who's daughter sings, she is just 14 and something of a local celebrity.
He would like to get her out singing and making a few quid, and is considering weddings, as she would be perfect.
The question.... would a wedding fayre be appropriate for a singer to attend?
I've virtually no experience of them, other than years ago in my capacity as a DJ. Most wedding services seem to attend them so my guess is it would be appropriate for a singer.
Comments?
Cheers folks.

Yes i would say so, obviously she wouldnt be able to sing there but she could set up a stand with her promotional material, demo cd's etc and sell herself to prospective clients who may not have thought about booking a singer.

I thought that might be the way forward. Displayboard with some nice big pictures, maybe even a screen showing video of a show - could always have headphones if folk wanted a listen.
Mmmm... ideas..excellent:)

How about getting her on with a Club singer agent and get her working the club scene and getting the experience for hitting the weddings.

I attend a few wedding fayres as my wife runs a chair cover company and one of the fayres we go to has a singer to open up the fashion show which works very nicely, plus he uses his PA for the sound system.
I would maybe approach the wedding fayre orgainiser and ask if they would mind her singing a song to open the show.

Sorry if this sounds wrong, but can you not offer her services combined with your disco (or maybe other dj's) in the area. Once started she could contact other entertainment 'persons' ie bands, string quartet, harpist etc etc to work alongside. At 14 it means she will be with someone and as well as getting her name about to clients will also meet other dj's bands etc which will be valuable for the future.
Agencies - don't get me started

Fairs are the best. i have got loads of work from them. all about the display and selling yourself. the age thing might be a problem with many people so demo and good price a must.
