Mmmm I wouldnt have thought that the tax office would contact you by post rather than email to tell you of any tax rebates.
I never reply to any of these emails you would be better of ringing up your tax office to confirm it. :beer1:
Off Topic::: Hey Gary I have just purchased a static caravan in Brean, are you stilll doing the summer seasons down there? :beer1:

Scam.
HMRC would always put something like this in writing, and they NEVER move as quickly as to only offer 48 hours to conclude!
Also, assuming you did a copy & paste, the grammar is suspect in a couple of places.

I would say it is a scam as well. the wording just doesn't seem right and the deadline seems a bit close.
I would give the tax office a ring and confirm. also check the links for any signs it could be a fake.

SCAM
The tax office would never email you in the first place. Any letter the tax people send would have all your details on it for reference.

**UPDATE**
I have spoken to a good friend of mine this morning about this email and she has said that the fact that there is no mention of my reference number it is almost certainly a scam.
She also has agreed that I should send the mail to my tax department and ask them to investigate it for me and also “Nail these people to the wall”
I will let you know what response I get chaps.

I have just completed my wifes tax return on the Internet on her behalf.
There is double checking on your ID, reference and password
--so Im sure your friend is right.
As far I know you dont get emails from the Revenue other than to acknowledge a tax return on line---or if you write in the first place with a query--otherwise its always by post to your home address.

100% scam.
2 main reasons.
Firstly the spelling errors, secondly the phrase "To access the secure form for your tax refund, please click here"
Also, as far as I know, the tax people would always send you a letter about something like this...certainly not a vague email.

CONFIMED:- Had a call from the Inland revenue thanking me for my letter this morning about this and they have told me that there is no way they would deal with any business via email.
They thanked me for bringing this to their attention and investigations are now ongoing as to the identity of the scammers.
