PCDJ/VJ versus Swift Elite 4

I have been trying (evaluating) both PCDJ/VJ and Swift Elite 4, and I can say that there are good and bad points with both.

PCDJ/VJ is really good, but it does not support playing VCD's, nor does it have a Multiplex facility, which is a shame.

Swift Elite, has support for all types as long as you are prepared to find and downlaod several codex needed in order to run the programme. Also be prepared to clean up your computer before starting - registry etc.

Of the two of them, PCDJ/VJ is better, just a shame it does not support vdc's and multiplex. If it did then I wouldn't bother with any other programme. It works straight out of the box, (after ensuring you have the latest DirectX)

Swift Elite does not work out of the box.

Hope the above is helpful to anyone currently evaluating disco/karaoke software.

PCDJ/VJ is simply Virtual DJ with a different skin all the functions are pretty much the same albeit with some PCDJ specific functions.

I would recomend Virtual DJ it can handle multiplex tracks with use of a plugin called special balance as multiplex vocals are only recorded on one channel it takes the vocal free channel and passes it to both outputs. As for VCD handling i can't se a reason why it wont play them as i havent found a format it wont play as yet you may just need to add the codec for the file extension which is something you can't do in swift elite :)
