After being "pushed" from BBC Radio 1, I see my old friend & ex-pirate colleague Dave Pearce is moving to BBC 6 Music.

Radio one has nearly 11 million listeners, but BBC 6 Music has just over 500,000.

How the mighty have fallen!

I really like Dave Pearce, he sounds like a really good guy.

I find the current Radio 1 DJ's try to hard to be celebrities and chatting about how they were out with a list celebrities or how they have a list celebs mobile numbers etc. It makes me cringe.

I found Dave to be easy on the ear and not full of bollox like the others. Good luck Dave

I haven't seen him or heard from him since we ran a pirate radio station together, and that was back in 1981-1982!

I've tried contacting him a few times through the various radio stations he's worked on, but I never got a reply.

He must have received at least ONE of my letters, so I guess he just has the attitude "I'm rich & famous now...I'm not interested in meeting up with friends or colleagues from the past"

During my time in the bank, I served dozens of celebrities, and was pleasantly surprised to discover that a fair number were genuine, down to earth & not at all up themselves.

Last time i heard about dave he was to busy doing his rounds in the night clubs to really concentrate on radio. maybe thats been his problem.

He's never really been away from the club scene.

On a related issue I was pleasantly surprised to get a message from Graham Gold the other week. He now lives and works in Thailand and seems to be enjoying life.

I used to listen to Graham Gold on a number of London pirates, including Kiss FM both before and after they got their licence, if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately I never met the guy, but always thought he was a good DJ with a fantastic & very distinctive voice.

Yeah I got to know him very well in the early 80's when he was resident dj at Gullivers in Down Street, Mayfair (following on from The Fatman Graham Canter) and he was one of the nicest people you could meet.

If that was true, I'd expect them to be listened to by more than 0.3% of the populataion...especially as they are available on DAB digital radio, Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media, the Internet, etc etc.....

No, but when I heard Dave was moving there, I looked them up to find more about what they do & found the following:

I don't like Indie, Classic Rock is fine, I can't stand punk, Jazz is ok, I love Funk but can't stand hip hop...so I can't see myself rushing to listen in the near future.

Any station that plays the Ramones, Psychedelic Furs, D@mned, Sam & Dave, & Prince Buster one after the other is alright by me.
