well they say when men make plans god has a good laugh. I had decided to spend my excess budget this year on some new moving heads (thanks by the way for all those who offered suggestions)
But just as i had at last made up my mind on what ones to buy (it was the imove 7's by the way) the x fader auto start packed up on my mixer. Easy enough to fix with a new module but decided to use it as an excuse to spend my budget on a new 'better' mixer and in that spirit just ordered a new dennon x500.
Now I know there are a few dennon users on here so anyone have any experience with these mixers or any things that I may need to know about them please let me know.

Also can anyone tell me how the signal to noise ratio for a line input is used . i.e is a higher number better or a lower one?
Reason I asked is that the dennon mixer says 81db ratio but my numark says 87db so got me thinking.

Also does it have crossfader start on it?

Hi,

I have the X-500 mixer and can tell you that it has been more reliable than anything I've used in the past (he said touching every piece of wood in sight!).

The mixer not only boasts fader starts but also cross-fader starts too, which are easy to assign.

One of the main selling points for me was the ability to assign any input to any fader, so should the worst happen and you have a noisy fader mid-gig then you can overcome the issue fairly easily.

ok thanks for that, out of curiosity what mixers did you use previously? I was using a numark 200fx and before that a numark cm100.

I have the x500. Off the top of my head I'm not sure if it has crossfader start on it, but it definitely has fader start. Also, not sure if it's just my "fat heavy handed fingers", but the button mechanisms on a few of the buttons (mic in particular) have collapsed. They still work, but it's an effort to press them at the correct point to get them working.

All in all the mixer is fantastic though. Great sound reproduction. I always used citronic mixing desks before going all Denon, and the difference in sound quality is clearly noticeable. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Would have bought pioneer, however as They prefer full desk size or smaller version I found them very limited in the size I need. i.e 4u x 19" rackmount fitting

Yes but fits my decks, a major point of choice when choosing. That and the denon weighs less than the big old pioneer mixing desk.
