For excellent value bargain basement, KAM and Warrior. No frills, does what it says on the tin.
Next step up, C-Mark, superb kit.

MilTech MTA 1600, Stanton A2800 and a Crown XTI 1000, don't use any as I'm now active LoL

The Miltech I've had for years and has been very good, but recently went a bit iffy with age, so got the Stanton, which for the cash offers a fair bit of protection. The Crown is excellent as its got built in funky things like a crossover, limiter, 4-band paragraphic eq, subharmonic bass processor etc...

I'm active too, but still have an RSE PF800 which has lasted me for almost 20 years and is still going. I'm not sure that RSE are still about though?

Crown XTi 4000 as my main and I have a ProSound as my backup.

The Crown is incredibly light for its power output.
It has several warning lights. One when you are near the clip, one when you are very near the clip, one when it has clipped and I think the other is thermal protection.

Tip; don’t go for ProSound, as I said it’s my backup and I hope I don’t have to use it.

Warrior SB1000 by Prolight, if I remember correctly.

290 watts per side into 8 ohms.

It's never let me down, but must be nearly 10 years old, and is no longer available.

I have the Dare V1400 yes it's heavy but good clean sound.

Also have Gemini GXA1600 and a Behringer EP2500.

i normally use warriot kt-600 & when i need extra power i break out the peavey 500 when i use my subs. but also got a jbs ax400 (soley as backup)

The only amp I have that isnt self build is a Skytec 1000 that I use for a backup.

Cant remember an amp letting me down in 30 + years in DJing.

I blew the fuses in one once by tripping over the speaker lead and tugging it out. Luckily I carried a spare set of fuses.

You cant get 3800WRMS even once from a 13 amp plug.

3800/240 = 15.8 amps from a 13 amp plug.

And thats not even taking into account heat watt losses in teh outptu transistors !

I use jbl amps , there actually rebadged qsc , ex series. In my opinion your better off with quality used kit than new "budget"..

Would highly reccomend. As I said for the price, they do what you want. I have had my main one now for 3 yrs (I think) and is used normally 3/4 times a week. I will admit to pushing an amp a lot and have never had any probs. I run 2x300w bass bins with 2x300w tops or 4x300w full range speakers. I also do kids parties so can do 2x 2hr kids parties and a 7-12 gig in same day (quite often lately). Have also done a wedding from 12 midday till midnight with loud sound for most the duration with no probs.

Am looking at the da-300w for pa use at moment.

Nigel - purely to clarify facts, yes you can. A 13a fuse won't pop the minute you try to pull 13a through it. For short periods of time, the fuse rating can be exceeded, quite considerably in fact. Please note that I am certainly NOT recommending you overload any circuit, as said, I am just clarifying facts.


Why are we talking about domestic 13a plugtops anyway, I woudln't expect to see one on a professional power amplifier of that size in any case. A 16a SPNE cee is the industry standard connector.

Nigel, with respect I don't think that you can compare a rope light with a professional power amplifier. That's like comparing a skateboard and a £60k Merc - don't buy the car in case the back wheels fall off (like they did on that secondhand skateboard) :cool:

Hopefully anyone involved with outdoor events, as they are the industry standard small "outdoor" connector rated to IP44 (splashproof) and are commonly found on small gennies and on distros.

And before anyone asks, NO! - a 13a plugtop and socket wrapped in a Tesco carrier bag is NOT suitable for outdoor events.

I use an Inter-M M2000 (1000wpc@4ohms) as my main amp and a Matrix UKP1000 (500wpc@4ohms) as my backup. But can bi-amp if I need to.
