21st In A Marquee

Well I have just returned home from what has to be gig of the year so far. The birthday party was a 21st in a marquee on the back of a house just 10 minutes away from where I live. I was booked by the father of the girl who's birthday it was as he owns a succuessful local fish & chip shop and one of his staff was at a wedding a few months back so she had reccomended me and he booked me.

Well I arrived at the venue within plenty of time around 6pm for a 7:45 start, Found out I had to take the equipment through the house but I was helped out by the father and his son which was a very nice gesture. I got into the marquee and set up whilst been offered drinks by every member of the family. I was then given a tour of the house and told to make myself at home and get anything that I needed.

So the background music was playing and some younger teenagers came into the marquee and I then changed the music to some chart and then onto some cheese including Cha Cha slide, Macarena ect and kept them entertained for around an hour which gave the parents chance to talk and have a child free zone for abit. At around 9pm everybody was asked to make their way into the marquee for the cake for the birthday girl so we did the usual happy birthday and then I kicked things off with The Killers - Mr Brightside as it was a family favourite and they went mental for it. The night kept going on with lots of 60s' - Now, Came to 12:20 and I played Take That - Never Forget as they only wanted the odd one or two slow songs. So the last song I was asked to do Mr Brighside again which I obliged to. I wished the birthday girl many happy returns and ended the night on a high. After I had finished lots of people were coming over asking for cards and alot of the younger teenagers were saying "I want him for my party". This has to be one of my jobs of the year as all the guests were friendly and welcoming and also got alot of thanks at the end of the night.

No pictures i'm afraid as I was just far too busy with all the events.

Well it was an excellent night start to finish and also a pleasure to work for the family and be made so welcome in their family home.

And yes I do get many jobs like this infact quite a few but this one had a difference with it being a very civilised 21st birthday party and how appreciative everybody was.

I take it been the superstar dj you are you get them all the time and have never had a bad gig where nobody has danced then?

Of course it matters if they dance or not. That is one of the reasons we offer our services, Sometimes not everybody wants to dance but at least when people get on the dancefloor and you have a nice full dancefloor you know that you have done your job properly and made everybody happy.
You are just in this for the money by the looks of it and are out to rip people off in the best ways possible.

Where is your show that you put out for £750? Surely customers want to see what they are getting for that price. Now if you intend on hi-jacking my thread then don't bother take your remarks elsewhere as I no longer want anything to do with you.

So why say "does it matter if people dance or not, same show different people, the cash till in my back pocket" in your previous post? One could be forgiven for thinking that you make it up as you go along...perish the thought!

Glad to hear you had a good night. I had the best gig of my year 2 weeks ago so know how it feels to really 'click' . It makes you remember why you became a DJ in the first place.

Just a quick description of mine. 150 Grad students small room dinner dance. Soon as food finished everyone (and I do really mean everyone ) was on the dance floor for the whole night. Manager said he has never seen a DJ mange it before in the venue.
Left on a very good high. About 12 different people asked to have their picture taken with me as well to remember the night.
