Strange times for enquiries...

I tend to get a lot of enquiries between the hours of 6-9pm which is fair enough as people get home from work at set about organising their event.

However, I got the most inconsiderate enquiry today - at 12:56 AM! :eek:

Someone actually woke me up by texting my mobile at this ungodly hour! And they asked for a "Quick, cheap quote"! Well, I've added extra on for simply waking me up so it's one booking I don't think I'll get! ;)

And, what's worse, I actually replied with a figure straight away whilst I was half asleep! And, when I'm fully awake this morning, it hits me that it's a venue which we have blacklisted due to problems with the management and we agreeed we wouldn't go back there! :bang: This has really got me riled now!

Anyway, anybody else had enquiries at ridiculous times like this? Please show me that it's not just me!!! :o

I am registered with uk disco to get a text informing me of an enquiry.You will be surprised at the strange times people make enquiries.I now leave my mobile downstairs in the kitchen counter at night.

Funnily enough, when I checked my emails the morning after, an enquiry from the same person came through from UK-Disco about 3 mins earlier than the text (the text was direct from the "potential" client) so it's obvious that this is where they got my details.

Hi Dazzy, your not alone.

At the moment we seem to be getting an "idiots phone call month" which may or may not to be connected with the financial turmoil going on.

Certainly I have had calls very early in the morning and late at night--and you know what--for some reason I never get the gigs---so I think its disorganised people with not a lot of money to spend---because they are disorganised they dont hold down jobs paying the kinda money you and I are looking for.

They book cheapos, then get let down or mucked about and it finally registers that maybe they have made a mistake.

I did get one from a call late at night--- then it got cancelled because of the obvious disorganisation by the person arranging the event--doh!

Dont forget to charge those NON refundable booking fees.;)

Dodgy venues no problem-- oh dear guess what I just booked you this morning for my party so you cant do it:D

This month we have had--

A last minute call last week to cover an event where the cheap entertainer wasnt " available" suddenly.:confused:

A call yesterday to say can we cover an event today because the cheap entertainer has gone down with Arthritis--yeah right:eek:

That doesnt happen overnight does it.

Found someone to cover it then told--oh the bloke with Arthritis has found a cheap replacement --thanks a bunch eh ?

My wife had a very vague enquiry late at night when I was out--they gave her a phone number--it doesnt take incoming calls :eek:

With the recession here we are going to get a load more of this for the forseeable future especially where events rely on ticket sales.

Followed by the inevitable cancellations---probably by phone call at an unsociable hour when the reality kicks in :bang: :bang: :bang:

Normally I turn the phone off at 9.30pm as I don't take enquiries after that.

However, my personal phone was borrowed by the missus a couple of days ago when she took the oldest to school. It was pouring down with rain and she managed to drop the phone out of her pocket and the phone fell apart when it hit the ground. She picked up the bits but couldn't find the battery. Result - one useless phone! My business phone is multi-sim compatible so I put my personal sim in there until I can get a new phone. That's why it wasn't turned off.

Just not my week, really! :(

When my hand flares up it can take a matter of seconds. Thankfully I don't have it bad, but in some cases it can literally be crippling.

No I dont suffer Steve as im in peak condition ( for my age :D )

But my 30 yr old son does now and is being treated in particular for his hands :eek: AND I CAN SEE THE PROBLEM.

You dont have it so badly ( I sincerely hope ) that you would have to cancel out-

I really would have thought someone who had this complaint sufficiently badly to be disabled overnight would not be offering their services at all.

There again--it was a cheapjack ( surprise surprise )

I have certain minor health issues which I keep an eye on and actually pay to have treatments to keep fit and if it reaches the stage where I think I might let people down--ill quit;)

I once got a call at 2am from a local radio presenter to discuss booking for a show. I used to organize all the roadshows for Invicta Radio. I was very not amused.:bang:
