Why do some DJs have pointless pictures on there website galleries, I have been looking around and this has come to my attention more than once. During browsing I have found pictures of the following:

Outside The Venue - With No Description

Fields & Scenery - With No Description

Own Weddings (As in, "This was my wedding 3 years ago")

Bands / Singers

People Eating Meals

When sure the client wants to see you performing with full dance floors & people enjoying themselves

Hi Steve,

I agree with you 100%.....as I've noticed exactly the same thing.

As for why people put these pics on their sites, I honestly don't have a clue!

the pics of their weddings could be ones where they dj'd.

i have a few pictures of elvis impersonators as I seem to keep working with them- I had Britains Best Elvis a couple of years ago, a German Elvis recently, and have a Black Elvis in January.

Is the plural for Elvis' Elvi?

Hmmmm...I'm just wondering how many DJs do the disco at their own wedding.

We'll supply the DJ when Laurence ties the knot & probably (unless anyone on here wants to do it for free) also if / when Angela & I decide to.

I must admit unless you have firm links to a venue I can't see the point on venue pics & scenery does seem pretty pointless too.

Infact unless there is some sort of title / subtitle explaining this is x who we have worked for / with / at on many occasions etc, I see little point in any pictures in a web site gallery other than rig / gig pics & / or DJs working for that company

Ths is my argument, The potential client is looking to book a DJ not an Elvis Impersonator, I can understand if the performer is infront of your rig and you have expalined underneath the pictures but other than that I see it at just pointless.

I agree.

The most sensible place for a pic of an Elvis impersonator in on THEIR website.

On my gallery I stick to people having fun and a dance floor with people funnily enough dancing on it :D :D

I'm not trying to get people to book a venue or "act" of some description.

I want them, to see what I've done in the past ie: make people happy!

I was flicking around the web this morning as you do and came across a dj site with 5 pages of his set up and not meaning to be a "set up" snob but it wasn't particlarly nice anyway

Just added the ones from last night, they look happy enough to me !

i personally just like the picture, however it shows that we are willing to work with other artists and performers, able to provide sound and light for them if required, and gives a suggestion that we have covered a variety of events that are not just run of the mill 50th birthday parties.

if people were organising a large event and wanted me to arrange performers that is something i could also offer so there is some relevance there.

it's no less random than a website which has a stock photo of every
piece of equipment they own.

and besides, i like elvi.

ps I've just looked at the megamix site and there;s one pic which seems to focus on a vase of flowers!

Now that IS pointless.

100% pointless.

Makes you wonder how many bookings those people lose.

Well it was caught in the shot and if you look there are people on the dancefloor dancing, That is what I am trying to sell. It is abit different to having the picture of a field of the front of a venue on your site.
