We set up a gig with a Band and Caller for Friday on a Farm for the "Staff Barbeque Barn Dance"
The Caller was covering Barn and Line Dances by specific request.
Negotiations were handled not by the customer but by an intermediary I dealt with in very clear concise terms backed up by email correspondence.
Today I hear that on arriving at the gig the Caller is told by the actual client--no Barn dances because if the men start dancing with the women
theres going to be a fight:eek:
They are Polish Farm workers I now find out.
Only Line dancing is allowed --no contact between men and women.
I still can hardly believe this--anyone else had this problem entertaining in these circumstances as a Disco?

I do know some other nationalities do get a bit jealous and fiery.

I've done discos for the local fruit picking community, Poles, Georgians, Roumanians, Russians etc, absolutely no hassle or problem at all, apart from their awful taste in euro-drivel trance and hip-hop! The ladies are very nice indeed!

Cliché but true... South Americans, in certain circumstances.

As a casual look at the entries into the various EuroVision competitions (especially the dance one, recently) clearly show.

Try doing a Irish Travellers function..........Ladies one side Men the other and don't spend any more than a split second talking to the pretty young thing that's flirting with you or you're going to get hurt. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!

Ive done quite a few of those, the same family kept asking for me for their party's. It kicked off a few times, pretty bad, but after the brawl they all start dancing again like nothings happened. The end of the night is the most volatile, when you want to finish and they dont, then they sing for hours at the end too.

My girlfriends polish (on my aviator) and all i'm setting up a polish night in Southampton soon. Most of them are great! you know where you stand generally as long as you don't xxx with them. Jealousy does come easier though with them as they are a bit more red blooded like the spanish etc.

What I cant understand though is why we should have to make so many allowances, we should be proud of the way we do things as a nation and if others want to come here should follow how we do things and not the other way around
