thought id start this thread as i dont want to get smacked botty from the good proprieters of this good site.......
totally misunderstood what i was trying to say ..... my fault sorry ill try and think how to word it on a forum easy in speech ......
probably no better but ...... i'm thinking that certainly for the last 12 months now i may?? have been getting to preoccupied with the must be smart , must get everything spot on for the bride and groom etc musnt be mr peter kay mr cheese you know all the dont do things we see every week on the forum getting worried from wednesday on that everything is spot on for the weekend .
i now have a single gig left before retirement and ok im sorry but ill admit it as im big enough to do so and get spanked and shouted at but the last two gigs the retiring has been at the front of my mind and i have not surpressed the "well what are you going to do if i fluff up tell everyone im rubbish" thoughts quite as much as i used to as im not taking any more bookings , yes i have been professional and smart and done everything the same as i always have just not been hung up if it all goes pear shaped as "ive only got 3 weeks left" yes wrong attittude totally i agree.
but with this new slightly lighter attitude and not so much scrutiny of every little detail ..... ive had two of my best gigs ever??? just makes you wonder if it is possible to put too much emphisis on the wrong things.
in a way i feel i have tapered my personality to fit a model of what a professional should be and do and say within a gig setting and the last 2 ive reverted to cheeky dragon that can get away with saying and doing things that most people get beaten up for saying and doing and slated on the forum for doing by some not all .... but some ..and its had fantastic results????
Indeed its called being positive. I was on a crisis management course a few years ago and the speaker told us "Say to yourself 'stay calm' dont say to yourself 'dont panic' because your brain just picks up on the word panic".
Is this the sign of a comeback Dave:D :D :D
CRAZY K
nah Crazy just opened my eyes a bit and thought such a discussion could be helpful. i can't be doing with drooling drunks anymore and finding babysitters and being home at 3am.
incidentally 2 more incidents that are a first this week got asked if i was "available" ....... and not for a disco ..... twice this week once by a woman on the answerphone who had seen the website and on saturday nights gig too ......
i really must have started to exude a totally different vibe altogether?
