American DJ cases

I bought a couple of American DJ road cases the other day and they aren't too bad. They are not touring quality, but pretty good for the price. Fairly solid construction and trim with decent handles and butterfly catches. The inside is a thin layer of black carpet type material, but not foam.

American DJ currently have a small, medium and large case, and I bought a couple of the medium ones, one for all my spares and spares of spares ;) and the other for the S&H cloth and transformer. The medium case is quite heavy with all the spares in it, so I've also bought some casters to go on it, which I'll show when I've attached them.

I have attached a few photos to show what you can fit in these cases. The moving heads are the Isolution ones with the side brackets taken off and loaded in at an angle. The large case would fit two in no problem though. Then you have the case with 2 Impossibleds in. It also fits a Miracled in it's cardboard box exactly too.

There was a small child holding it from underneath and a safety chain attached to the ceiling. Before I placed the lights in the case, I did a risk assessment and also a method statement and emailed my PLI to myself. :D

Was looking at these when discoworld first put them on there site wasnt sure about the sizes but they look very good and at great prices will be buying some :)

I reckon the iSolution movers would be considerably better protected in those poly cases you have for them Darren, as they actually at least hold the mover in place with foam.

look really smart, cases for moving heads can be pretty pricey so these are a great alternative

I reckon the iSolution movers would be considerably better protected in those poly cases you have for them Darren, as they actually at least hold the mover in place with foam.

Probably, but it was just to show members how big the cases were and what you could fit in. I already have different cases for the movers ayway.

I reckon you'd need a bit of bubble wrap round them for extra padding though.

You'd need a lot of cables to fill it. I've got all my spares in one (and I have a lot of spares!) and it's only about half full.

They are cheaper at Discoworld but they haven't got them in stock.

Well that's my two cases ordered. One will be used for all the DMX and extension leads for hte uplighting.

I can't see the cpc link because here in the hospital shopping sites are filtered out in the firewall. Can someone tell me what the price of them is?

Also, if there is a small one available, as Darren says in the OP, how much is the small one and would that be a more suitable size for cables?

I have an adj case that takes my moving heads (built in rollers) , I also use the arriba soft carry bags from adj..... very good quality, and very reasonably priced. £20 for one to take mystic led. Worth considering if space is an issue! They are available in many sizes and have compartments for bulbs, clamps etc. . .

Just wondering , they look ideal for the impossibled and similar units. But is there enough room in the lid section to close with a small lighting bracked attached (25 - 50mm g type clamp to be precise).
As my current case with fit units but I hafe to remove clamps every time and it slows down setup a bit.

The medium case wouldn't be big enough for the clamp as well. Not sure about the large one though.
