Last Nights Party.

Hey,

Last night i went to a friends 16th in Northamptonshire, and he had a disco. The DJ himself was very good, he used decks, but with timecoded vinyl and was really good at beatmixing, his light show was awesome too. However, i couldn't believe how much of a mess his set-up looked! There was lighting cables hanging down from the truss and everything, much worse than any of the pictures i've seen on the forum.

Just wanted to show my opinion that bad wiring can really ruin the appearence of a DJ, whether they're good or not!

Was that the thought of all the party guests?
Although I hate seing messy wires, I'm sure most of the guests today wouldn't be able to tell you they had a good night, but they specifically remember the DJ having untidy wiring.

Glad you had a good night. Was it crazy like mine? I did a 16th birthday for a girl at school...and as per usual it was a nightmare!!! I will tell you all the full story tommorow when I have time.

My party last night was a 50th birthday party for a lady - or more accurately woman. There were loads of fat, loud, tattoed women and loads of scruffy looking blokes. There was a free bar paid for by her husband and 50 people got through £3,000. I had a drunken slapper spill her vodka and coke over my stand, lots of verbal advice about the music I played, several requests to sing, and it ended with a teenage girl being assaulted by her ex boyfriend. Fortunately the venue were emplying me and paid me in advance. Having said all of this they danced for most of the night and the choice of music was mostly 80's and no party dances (YMCA, Macarena, Ooops, Blame It On The Boogie, etc). And at midnight when I finished there was not a lot of bother. Not a favourite though - plus it was Jan's birthday but as we have no gig tonight I am shortly taking her out for a nice meal.

I use some black sheets with sequins on. (on the pic) bad bedroom set up not all my gear by the way. Too small to fit anything in i was just testing stuff. The sheets do their job and ive got 3.5m x 1.5m for £9 in boyes. Cheaper than a star cloth! As you can see with the right lighting it gives a similar effect. My set up therefore looks neat. Sorry about the camera quality and the room i had to set this up in. I will take more pictures of all my equipment at my next party(in a week or so)

The live band needs to be deleted havent got round to it because we no longer have a singer or drummer. Thanks for reminding me and thanks for viewing the site.

My night was calm at a back garden party free for a friend. (appart from complaining neighbours)
They were complaining at a 35W amp which we use for our small parties. Not very loud at all! Anyway everyone had a good time (appart from the neighbours!)

I dont understand how anyone can see black cables behind lights.
Being behind the lights precludes any sight of wiring.

Once the house lights come up then thats a different matter.

My neighbour has a 10 watt stereo and that comes blasting through the wall.
Its usually the bass that carries through walls most.

Sorry to be pedantic but he said shhets not seets. A black shhet is quite a sight.

Alright let's clear this up...

I mean cables hanging down from the trussing, not neatly behind the lighting, HANGING DOWN from the truss absolutely everywhere, it was impossible to miss, to see the DJ you had to look through a jungle of cabling. The cables were from the truss, right down to the floor!

I totally agree about the wiring, all it takes is 5 minutes and either Velcro ties or re usable cable ties.
