Had provisonal bookings with a local hotel from 28/11/08 to NYE:) . These have now been cancelled by the hotel this week, stating not enough interest in the christmas parties etc:confused: . Unfortunately i had no booking forms completed or hard copies of any booking, all word of mouth, so I'm no trying to recoup my loss's:( . Got a chistmas do on the 5th and a wedding on the 20th. Not happy:bang: .
Just beware, because this could become a familiar scenario......

Unfortunately this happens every year to a lot of people. It's the nature of the beast. I suppose the only good thing is that you have a couple of months to try and get a few bookings in.

Sorry to hear about that Mike.

That's one of the reasons why I don't want to have all my eggs in one basket.

My quiz nights are at 4 different pubs, and all my discos are private one-off bookings.

To be honest, I'd be really concerned if I was the resident or recommended disco for any particular venue, because if they found someone cheaper & stopped using me (especially in the current climate), I could end up losing a whole load of bookings in one go.

In August I had 15 provisional Christmas Parties booked by my residency at my hotel. I had the same last year and they cancelled 9 of them on me. Last year my Terms and Conditions were'nt great and they abused them (I was still learning the ropes to be fair). On monday they called me and cancelled the 6 in November that were booked. They also said that they are confident that at least 4 of them will be re-booked but wanted to cover themselves. My cancellation charges (£75.00 if cancelled within 8 weeks) have come in as the period is 6 weeks. I have told them that if they get re-booked then I will waive the cancellation charges but if not, they are liable for them.

Apparently, the other 9 are 100% confirmed and they have even booked me twice (2 x DJ's) on 2 of the nights. They have said that bookings are up on last year!
