Lighting & Haze

Hello!

Hope all is well.

I currently have no LED lighting, however i would like to invest in some. My current lighting setup is 2x Acme Magic Gobos & 4x Acme Dynamos. A while back i had set my mind on an Acme Miracled, however having seeing it at a party i went to; i think the impossibled would be a better option. So i have decided (when i have the money) to buy this light and use it as a centrepiece.

Another idea i've had, is to not replace, but have the option of swapping my magic gobos to LED lights also. For this, i was thinking about getting 2 Mystic LEDs. Good idea? Any other (possibly cheaper?) suggestions?

Last question; my smoke machine is dieing basically, and i would like to buy a better one. However, having read various posts on the forum, and also knowing that it'd be more effective for doing band work, i was thinking about buying a haze machine. Any suggestions? Are they effective? Got any pictures? Overall i think a hazer would be better.

I must say i have been interested in the Mystic LED but when you think its pretty much got the same effect as the ImpossibLED there is a worry the 2 effects may get lost in too a mass of dots.

I personally think the LED technology isn't quite there yet and am thinking of holding fire until they get there. expect may new LED products to come out in the next year or so.

hi ollie, with regard to haze machines i have a look unique 2. they are not cheap but they certainly are the dogs danglies.

if you use it a lot it may be worth the investment for you rather than cheap ones that keep breaking.

The Mystic and Impossibled are completely different in the movement and patterns. The only similarity is the fact that they are led and the patterns are made from dots, which is the same on nearly every current cheap led effect.

I don't have a smoke or haze machine but have used that model of my mates when working with him, cracking hazer :)

I think Lee and the others who use them have said you can leave them on all night on constant and no-one in the venue would know there is a hazer on, apart from the fact that the lighting effects look much better.

lol, i'm not planning on spending a ridiculous amount haha. £100 - £150.

I'll throw in a vote for the Acme detailed above. I have one and it's much better than the Zoom that it replaced. Although it is rather large!

I've been looking into this and dare i say it you are correct. And i even found the following video that shows 2x Mystic Led with 1xImpossibLED. I must say they seem to work really well tougether. So much so that i'm tempted to drop the Dynarock and go for 2 of the Mystic LED. Now i'm back to square one where i'm unsure what light to get:bang: :bang: :bang:

I've spent a lot of time looking at these fixtures for an install which is why I knew they were quite different. I think it looks too crowded with all three projecting onto the floor. Perhaps the Impossibled should be on the ceiling or back wall. I've seen the Mystic 'live' and am not sure I like it.

I've got the Eurolite version of the Mystic (same product, different badge) and I was disappointed with the brightness of the thing especially next to the impossibLED and now wish I hadn't bothered.

It's not a patch on the dynarock/roll for giving bright light over a wide coverage area.

i had a Vivid smoke machine and then swapped for a Vivid Hazer (Fazer i think its called) - its good in the way you can pre set the time for it to set off automatically - upto 10 seconds - but you need an extra remote in order to set it up to 10 minute intervals.
its better than a smoke machine as its constantly putting out small amounts automatically which doesnt look so obvious - but it isnt 'invisible' as you might think. £50 approx - good value.

The Acme that I gave the link for back in this topic is really good. You can leave it on constant all night if you want and no problems at all. It hardly uses any of the liquid and it also has a timer on the remote control. I use the Dense Haze but there are 3 different types.
