Just returned from my regular Indie/Alternative night and a couple of bits tonight to tell you about.
Firstly, I got there and set up the equipment and firstly tested the bass bins going through the Crown XLS802 - Fine. Then put the JBL's through the Peavey CS3000 and noticed that one side wasn't working properly. It sounded as if there was just music coming out of the tweeter on the right-hand side. My first thought was "Oh ****, I've blown my speaker". I swapped the speak-on lead and it still did the same. It was absolutely fine when I used it last saturday by the way. On the back of the Peavey are 3 speaker outputs...Left - Bridge - Right. The left-hand speaker was fine so I took the lead out of the right side and put it in the bridge output...everything worked fine so I thought "It's not the speaker, it's the amp"... Am I right? I don't mean to sound too dense but I don't know a lot about that kind of thing, I usually just plug in and play. Now, I tested the lead from the mixer to the amp aswell and that seemed fine but I am going to have to get a new one anyway because......
....during my set tonight I played a few harder tracks (Disturbed, Korn, A Perfect Circle etc..) and it was during 'Bullet in the head' by Rage against the Machine that the punters went loopy. They all surged forward and fell into my stand. It nearly knocked my Denon off but I got it in time. I noticed while I was packing down that the 1/4 plug on the lead that goes from the mixer to the amp had been bent, it was nearly snapped off (luckily I only had one song left)...Anyway, firstly...any suggestions as to what the problem may be? Secondly, and this is for the more local lot...does anyone know of any good repairers? My usual guy has moved premises and I don't know how to get in touch with him as I don't have his number.
