i believe that it used to be the case that at 16 you in some cases could have a beer or cider with a meal ?? that from my mum who was in the catering trade for some 20 years , but that has probably long since changed as she has been out of that business for about 6-7 years now.

I think at 16 its only a wine in a restraunt, dont quote me on that though

Apparently there is no law on under 18's drinking in a beer garden. I'm not sure landlords would take to kindly to this though.

You can have anything alcoholic with me meal over 16 provided that your parents order and pay for it. Been reading up on it :D

Could be just Scotland. But up here there are no laws :D most of them just drink anyway :D Ill dig out a link
