Doing up my flat.

I started three weeks ago and things are coming along nicely.

The only trouble is it's going to cost well over ten grand.

getting ultra fit , building up for the start of the wheelchair rugby season in late jan, 2 training sessions and 3 gym and swims a week.

Like Rob, I've got a whole lot of DIY and decorating still to do, mainly in the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen floor is tiled at the moment, a few of them have hairline cracks in them and it all needs re-grouted, so I'm thinking of investing in a hardwood floor.

Nice idea, Damian...I might add that to the list!

Apart from that, it's just a new floor, new carpets, double glazing, new sofa & chair, new toilet, new washing machine, new cooker, new curtains, new chest of drawers & new sideboard...as well as lots of smaller bits & bobs. Then I just need to decorate the entire flat, buy a new van & then next summer I can start saving for my retirement!

Ah, this stuff looks really good, the laquer layers would definitely save many hours of finishing after laying the floor, thanks for that :beer1:

it looks good when its laid, as the above pictures can tell you, easy to clean, very slippery when its wet, dont need to hoover it, as a mop does it all. throughout the down stairs of my property it has moppable flooring.

You can either have laquered finish or oiled finish. I prefer oiled finish.

Engineered is less likely to shrink expand than solid wood, and oiled can be repaired /sanded more easily than laquered.Although i always prefer a good porcelain tile for kitchens / bathrooms.

I know a guy who installs hardwood flooring, but it hasn't been engineered with a protective finish, so he finishes it himself. I'm guilty of using capital letters for emphasis, but that's because it's my only option, as I no longer have the toolbar giving access to bold, large, underlined or coloured text.

I think Steve's problem is more to do with people knowing when a capital letter is appropriate rather than in your example Rob!:)

I wasn't too sure exactly what he meant, so I thought it best to explain the reason why I sometimes use all capitals for certain words or phrases.

Other than that, I have no problems knowing when capitals should be used.

English language was one of my few O-levels, and hopefully it shows in my posts!

maybe back in the 80s or 90s, like i said i wish to send my children to private school, if i can ever afford that, if not then home tutor and i shall teach them everything i know, if i cant make a good dj from a son, i could turn him into a dam good welder or anything in that area.

all i learned their was abcd ect ect and 1+1= 2, school didnt really learn me how to run a business, how to do accounts, weld, fix cars and lorrys, dj, plus everything else.

school didnt teach me anything to do, what i know today, my spelling is bad yeah, am a good reader, my maths is ok. i got taught business of a nice traveller, i was willing to learn, so he taught me, hence am here today.

also got taugh from family, plus my dad.

The education system is much better than when I was at school.

When I was at school we learnt Latin and Greek, English Language, and English Literature, Politeness and Respect, we had fifty acres of playing fields, and Uniforms.

Priveleged Education? Nah, Eleven Plus. ;) And I'm ever so grateful for the education I received. That's where the flowery language comes from Darren. ;) ;)

Am sorry but I have to agree with you again there Daz.
There is more help there for the youngens than there ever was.
I had big problems at school with dyslexia and you were just classed as thick back then, today the help is almost endless and any problems a kid has tends to get picked up early on so they can try to work around it.

The only real problems with schools these days is they have their hands tied behind their backs when it comes to discipline.

the problem is not the education system more the parenting combined with the amount of rights and responsibility we have handed to children who have no idea how to use it effectively or responsibly , and this ridiculous notion we need to protect them all from stress and fear of failure. i'm with excalibur though big up the 11+ :D :D :D
