View Full Version : Bluetooth advice please.

The CD player in the car is poorly, and the SS Continental Drift has more items which plug into cig lighters than enough. :bang: Has anyone got a Bluetooth CD player, and/or what would you recommend? Most of the ones I've seen seem to have the mic built into the unit, rather than external, which wouldn't seem ideal. I have had a Sony MD player for donkeys years, it's still working perfectly, so I'm leaning that way initially. Thoughts please? Thanks.

I mean a CD Player for the car, which is Bluetooth enabled, allowing you to make mobile phone calls thgrough the Radio speakers, and built in microphone, thus staying legal by being handsfree, and not having to charge the battery on a separate unit.

I have just upgraded my sat nav for that very reason, only to find that it doesn't support my phone...(Halfords told me it did)

It's a bit strange being as the phone is an N95 and one of the most popular phones around.

Time for an upgrade perhaps..

I wouldn't have called the N95 "One of the most popular", unless you're a Company Director. ;) Us plebs are using 6300's. :( :( And may I say that my previous phone, a 6021 was far superior. :bang: Why oh why don't they make a phone with a huge contact memory, tremendous battery life, and splendid reception? :confused: :confused: Ah yes, time to get the 2110 out of mothballs. :( :(

Camera is pathetic despite the hipe! The back kept falling off mine. The battery would hold its charge for very long. Day at max standby. Music and email facility's were poor.

The camera is brilliant and video is DVD quality, so I totally disagree with that. I had one or two problems initially, but a firmware update sorted that out. Mine is 18 months old now and I've had no other problems with it. I don't use the email and I'm not sure what you'd expect from a phone with regards to music?

DVD Quality :eek: There must of been a fault in mine then. My iPhone has all i need on it in one package. Im happy.

Yeah, 3Mp camera compared to 5mp and no bluetooth...;)

My iPhone has bluetooth. There is no comparison between my iPhone and digital camera when a photo is printed to A4.

My iPhone has bluetooth. There is no comparison between my iPhone and digital camera when a photo is printed to A4.

I think you'll find that the iPhone has what is commonly termed "crippled" bluetooth, in that it can only support bluetooth headsets and no other bluetooth services - not even bluetooth stereo speakers. No using it as a bluetooth modem, no file transfer, no bluetooth printing....and no sign of any of this being forthcoming as it was all complained about to Apple before the last update and they did nothing about it :(

But on a serious note, great idea. I use a little ear piece and tbh, it starts to hurt my ear after a while of driving so I take it off and get my roadie to take the call for me.

I started with those, expensive ones, they both broke in a short time. So I got a Sun visor one, fantastic. It broke! Got a new one, it works, but it's not as good, and I keep having to charge it up, so cables everywhere. Hence, one fitted in the player. ;) :D

Edit: So far, so good. Couple of niggles sorted in the car, and an added bonus of it having an USB front socket. :D :D Just loaded a few hundred tracks onto a stick, and hey presto, Mobile Disco. ;) :D :D
A pair of the big Class-D's in the back of the van, and we're rigged.

Any requests for Monday lads? :confused:

Yeah, don't bring the Class Ds....:D

I had a very similar head unit in my CR-V with the USB stick input and it was very useful. Sold it with the car though.

I have just fitted this to my car.

I usually get to gigs really early as I don't like being late so now I can either watch freeview tv or watch a dvd. lol. Just need to check about if I would need some kind of tv licence. I'm sure I would but need to check

It also has bluetooth. lol

:D On a more serious note, the one I fitted to our Car got some serious testing on Monday. The man in the Toll Booth on the Humber Bridge was treated to the entertainment of Twinspin and I speaking to Penmare, checking his address, not believing he lived where he said, programming the Sat Nav, paying the Toll, and arguing with Penmare. Amazingly, he seemed unimpressed! :( In the car the caller is crystal clear, and apparently reception their end is not bad either. So far, I'd really recommend this one. With a 4Gb stick in, you don't half have a wide musical choice. ;) :D
