Damian, why not do what many other forum members have done and post a link to it on here? I am sure you will get a good response, with plenty of helpful hints. Web threads always seem popular on the forum.

Mrs VV has a distinction MA in English and is currently partway through a PhD, so acts as my proofreader.

If anyone would like to engage her services for a token fee let me know ;)

Sir. I wish to urge caution in such matters. In certain circles such an offer might be misconstrued. I believe the modern idiom is "Pimping"

Should we perhaps have a "Readers Wives" section?

(Waits for Rob to complain about discrimination ;) )

I like the style of the Antipodean gent who advertised for a ladyfriend, with own boat. The rider tickled me. "Please send picture (of boat) "

I just get a few family members to have a read. 5 pairs of eyes are better than my 1 pair. :)

Authors have their books proof-read before going to print.

Being a successful author has nothing to do with proof-reading ability.

Now - I did a proof-reading course... :)

Can you wave a bigger one than that??!

Hello, how many of you lot have had your website proof readed by someone?

Going back to the original topic, I think this is actually a good idea.

If we write our own website text & check it ourselves, we are less likely to notice any errors than a different pair of eyes.

I must admit to being a stickler for accuracy in spelling & grammar on websites, which is why I checked mine about 10 times...so if anyone finds any errors on it, I'll happily eat my shoe.

16) We are also having a band at our function. Can you work around them?
Yes. This arrangement works well, as the disco can fill in when the band take their breaks, which provides non-stop music throughout the evening. We always liase with the band in an effort to avoid duplicating their set list.

surely that should read liaise

and both myself and the other forum members demand photographic proof

Whoaaaa...my plan worked. I KNEW that post would make people check & re-check my site for any errors which I'd missed.

Oh well...can anybody let me have some tomato sauce and pepper & salt?

:(

PS Thanks Dave! :D
