Doing my bit

Well this time of year it's time to remember those soldiers less fortunate than myself.

I could be out in Iraq or Afghanistan but luckily i'm not, yes i've been there before but at the moment the current posting doesn't involve it.

This week i've had the pleasure in selling poppies for 2 days. Wedensday was in the ASDA at Bootle where I was overwhelmed with their generosity. For those that don't know Bootle it's not the most affluent area of the country. There were people there that have next to nothing but were prepared to give what the had to the Poppy appeal.

Today was spent at Liverpool lime street station doing the same. There was more than one 20 pound note that went in the collection box and commuters stopped to chat as we were in Uniform.

I will also be "on Parade" on sunday with the Squadron down at Bootle.

I've bought mine, but don't wear it. What happened to the pin they used to have?, now they all seem to a plastic green stem.

Pins should come with them but unfortunately there's always more poppies in the box than pins ;)

I always put a £10 in, have done since the early 90s, same for the Lions when they come round at Christmas time collecting for the not so fortunate kids appeal.
