This is something I do for a few clients - you know the kind of thing - add some snow, a Christmassy background, maybe a Santa hat or Xmas pudding somewhere in their normal heading or logo...usually from around now until Christmas.

It's a nice wee touch - does anybody else do it?

No as my target market isn't Christmas-led events.

But I do have a Christmas and a New Years Eve page because believe it or not there are some people sad enough to decide where they're celebrating this Yuletide based on where I'm appearing... :o

Yes! I add a little bit snow and santa hat to my header. You also added some snow and ice to my logo last year. Thank you. :). Forgot all about that, I'll change it now. :)

Same here, although it's an interesting idea.

It reminds me of a certain search engine which often changes its logo to fit in with various holidays, times of year & various other events as well.

Bah Humbug to you! It's not about target markets etc...it's about spreading a nice warm Christmassy feel :)

Whoaaaa Marc, having seen that, I'm quite warming to the idea now!

I have some website amendments to get done soon, so maybe I'll ask my webhost to Christmasify my website at the same time! ;)

I've had an xmas party page since February time, with a Santa hat on my logo for just that page. I changed the logo for the standard header to it as well just a couple of weeks back..

Why wait, if you want it I'll switch it for you, no charge :eek:

While on the subject, for maximum cheese you can't beat a bit of snow - here's my favourite Javascript Snow (http://www.schillmania.com/projects/snowstorm/) :)

Only problem is remembering to take it off again afterwards. If I recall - Shaun - you did a nice little Christmassified logo for us a couple of years ago and Richie put it up on this site. Only problem was, we all forgot it was there and I think it was about April before we remembered! :eek:

So do I!

I showed it to my mate when he came round earlier to get a second opinion, and he loved it too!

Before anyone else PM's me asking me to Christmasify their websites - this is something I only offer to design clients, as I have the source graphic files and access to their site(s).

Plus they're paying clients so it's a nice "freebie" to offer.

Just to add to this a little, I'm going away for a few days so won't be around to change Rob's back to the usual logo, so I used a little basic PHP to do it for me. It'll also change it back to the Christmas version on 1st December, 2009! I'll put it here for everyone to change to suit if it helps :cool:

At the top of your page put something like: -

<?php
if (date("M")=="Dec") {
$headerlogo="images/toplogo_xmas.gif"; // location of your xmas logo
} else {
$headerlogo="images/toplogo.gif"; // location of your normal logo
}
?>

Then where the image you want to replace is, instead of the usual which might be something like: -

<img src="images/toplogo.gif" width="800" height="150" border="0">

replace with: -

<img src="<?php echo $headerlogo; ?>" width="800" height="150" border="0">

Then, for the month of December, your Christmas logo will be shown. This method assumes your xmas logo and normal logo are the same dimensions and so are interchangeable. It also requires that your page is a PHP page and that your host supports this. If you have an HTM or HTML page then adding this line to your .htaccess will parse it as PHP which may work as long as your host supports it: -

## PARSE HTML & HTM FILES AS PHP
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .html .htm

Have fun :)

I did it for the first time this year with xmas hat on my hed kandi style girl and a xmasy picture tab on the homepage to a dedicated xmas party page - can't say it increased the booking figures on iota but i suppose it spread the cheer somewhere!

Mine is still normal at the moment, but if I remember rightly, Marc said he would set it to automatically change for the month of December each year, so hopefully it will Christmasify itself on Tuesday.

That is amazing Marc.

Just as a bit of fun if you have the time, fancy playing around with my new site www.dj-hire-birmingham.co.uk and seeing what ideas you would do on mine?!

I haven't got a clue, so if you have the time and wanted to post a screeny in here that would be great and might get my head into a Christmas Website Design mood.
