Ive never had a problem with Citronic but only ever had mixers (good basic work horses). Dont know what their sound systems are like. Purely thinking that the satellite speakers will fix nicely to the ultimax stand (with the adapters) meaning a very small footprint.

I've heard it twice. Once in a marquee and it was horrible and another time in a shop where it was much better.

I would love to, but up here in cumbria we havent got any disco supplier shops. Its a pain in the arse to be honest. Have to rely on the internet (and Terralec catalogue) for everything.

If you say it was horrible (in the marquee) then ill take your word and keep well clear. Do you have any suggestions for something similar (2 satellites & bass unit) with a similar price?

It may not have been set up properly in the marquee which is why I said go and listen to it.

Seriously. Theres nothing in the west, east or north cumbria. Im not a 100% sure for the south but spent 12 months working in the main town in the south and didnt see anything.

Theres been a couple of music shops (ie guitar stockists) that have stocked lamps and that, and can order you most audio stuff if you go in and specifically say what you want. The biggers supplier (who had a full showroom with things set up) got into hire ended up with a catalogue of dj equipment on the desk of their hew "head office". Its bloody useless up here.

The local bloke whos retiring has a piokey little shop with loads of cabs from the 70s stacked in the middle. Great bloke though.

Must say it looks a bit overpriced for what it is to be honest. The spl is pretty low for this type of system a Db setup or mackie setup is much more efficient.

saving pennies for the dBtec fourtyline system but wanting a much smaller back up system that i may use occasionallf (for christenings and the like). Was wondering about the spl. Dont really understand spl. By my reckoning more dB is louder sound but thats probaly layman/numpty speak.

Borrowed a set of HK Audio active speakers for a gig off a friend and was well impressed but i keep forgetting to ask which model they are.

takes me about an hour to go accross to darlington (phase one) if you are going from out west only take you an extra 40 mins and well worth a ride out

Rhythm of life (used to be Rhythm Audio) in Carlisle used to stock disco gear, thats where i got my peavey mixer. Dont know if the yare still trading as havent been for a while.

Rhythm of Life is the bigger suppleir i was talking about. Much better when they were AVI and not doing hire and the like but im sure that Gary at the company would disagree. Was in about 6 months ago getting some custom cables made up. They have a counter in a room about 3 meteres square with the last remnants of stock out. Asked if they still done disco equipment and was told (to paraphrase) "You tell us what you want and we get it, just dont hold stock for people to see and listen to anymore".

Personally, and as Darren said, its got to be seen and listened to before you decide.

i dont entirely blame them, not alot of money in retail anymore, its mainly box moving and internet price matching. Half the time you can have an item in stock and on demo, give someone your expertise and steer them in the right direction. They go home, look on the net and buy it cheaper. Even if you are the same price, they are already at home and get free delivery. This is why ive heard of Guitar Shops charging for Demo's now!!

Unfortunately this is true. The nearest disco shop to me is in Hull and it's diabolic, the service is virtually non-existant and the stock is very limited.

I went in once to look at lights, asked a guy if they were DMX and his reply was no, they're all Abstract lights :bang:
I just said 'oh right' and walked out!

The local guitar shop in Beverley has now closed down too :(

MORE disco shops have appeared with Shiny new Skytronic etc accounts and just sell this stuff cheap. Do they know what they are talking about? Will they be around in a years time? Who Knows? We have had a DJ shop in town which sells every thing, but doesnt rely on retail so much as installs and hires, but the shop is good. A 2nd shop opened with a Skytronic account and anyone else who would sell to him. He'd sell people 1000WATT SPEAKERS (those cheap ones with about 4 piezo's in the top) and people blew them up by putting 300watts into them!
