Is it me or is the whole show based around Alexandra winning? I mean, Eoghan gets Boyzone, JLS get Westlife and she gets BEYONCE!

Then again the Beyoncé song was less well-known (in pop circlers anyway) than either of the other two songs so it immediately limits it to a more R&B oriented audience - had they done 'Crazy in Love' THAT would've been a cry of foul from me, too.

Well, it's certainly between JLS and Alexandra. As to who will have an actual career... it's between JLS and Alexandra but I think that JLS are more likely to lead to one or two solo careers.

I suspect that we may be seeing Ruth again, soon, too. Simon's not stupid and Alexandra is a bit too like Leona Lewis stylistically to keep interest in X-Factor going - bring out some ballsy rock songs under the X-Factor flag and it will keep the interest up across the board, I think. After all the Girls Aloud show between the X-Factors, last night, made a big deal of guesting The Kaiser Chiefs...

Eoghan was drowned out (twice) by the backing.

Not sure if it was me but i found the sound to be awful from the studio, very rarely did i hear the contestants sing properly as the music seemed to over power the vocals. I changed channels and the sound was fine from other channels and similar porgrammes. I was lead to beleive the studio was specifically set up for the x factor, in my opinion the acoustics were awful..!!

I think JLS shot themselves in the foot by duetting with Westlife, talk about being outclassed!

Eoghan slotted into Boyzone perfectly, but was flat for most of the HSM track.

Alexandra looked like she was going to fall apart when Beyonce came on, but pulled it together. A worthy winner.

They showed the Hero song that the finalists sung and the video surrounded Alexandra. Even when this was made they were making it obvious who they wanted to win. I just think she is too much like Leona and all the bubbling last night was ridiculous.

I was chatting with some of the contestants' relatives on Saturday (we actually stopped my gig to watch the show. Well it was in the hotel that the vast majority of them stay in), general concensus is...

A. The right act won

B. When are they going to use something lively that people can dance to for the winner's song????

Simple explanation, as contestants are eliminated the publics voting loyalty will be transferred to their second choices. These will inevitably be of a similar nature/taste to their first choices. e.g the voters for Ruth, Rachel & Laura will probably accumulate toward Alexandra. Eoghans vote was probably more static and therefore eroded as the candidates lessened.

A. Yes (though if Ruth had made the finall... ;) :heart2:

B. Never - it's a formula and if the finals were between a "Disco Diva" and a "Rocker" or an R'n'B Vocal Group and a "Rock Chick" how easy would it be to come up with a song that worked for both? Also, ballads do well in the charts... 'I Will Always Love You', 'My Heart Will Go On', 'All for Love', etc.

Alexandra is just another Leona.

They both sink or swim depending on what songs they get handed.

I hate the songs Leona sings and the same for Alexandra so far.

Good talent needs to be backed up by good songs.
