Does anybody know if there is such a thing as say an led par56/64 for floor standing that is DMX linkable and can be used with a simple CA-8 controller?

I was considering getting a basic DMX controller but to be honest all I want the cans for is a back wash in blue or whatever so thought a DMX controller may be a bit overkill for what am after really, but I already have the CA-8.

Any pointers much appreciated :)

Hya Damian, is there any particular reason why a CA-8 shouldn't work?
The only thing I can think of really is that the CA-8 only has the ability to choose the built in programs etc. ?

According to the manual, Prolights Vision Colour Mood Par 56 is CA-8 compatable. http://prolight.co.uk/item/ledc20/

One of these is probably what your after, I know you wanted to use the CA8, but this will give you better control without using a full DMX desk.

coupled with a few par cans from the visio range, you should be able to get universal floor stands for them as well.

I've used the controller that Sam linked you to. Good little controller, with fade times, and preset colours.

I use the Visio cans and have used them with a CA-8 several times. You can black them out, strobe them, put them on hold, scroll and change the colour manually.

Thanks for that Darren, I may just buy a couple of the cans and see how I go with the CA-8 then

i dont understand how this would work? The CA-8 is not a dmx controller, im guessing your led par cans dont have jack inputs so how would you plan on doing this?

just out of my own curiosity
thanks

The ca-8 is not actually a controller at all. If you open it up it has no chips or components other than a circuit board some led's and some switches. It is really only a link to the onboard controller of the effect you are using. So in that respect the ca-8 will only work if the effect you use is designed to use it.

The only opsion as far as I can see is one of what Sam uses or a smilar product. like this http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_ddc6_dmx_controller.htm

Well it is, as it controls the lights you plug it in to. It's not a DMX controller though, if that's what you meant. :)
