Acme Dynamo Scanners

Im looking to buy 4x acme dynamo scanners with controller etc, but i've noticed there 2 different types. 100watt and 250watt.

What do people use ? Should i buy the 250watt ones just because they are brighter?

I have 2 Acme Dynamos and 2 Acme Dynarocks, all 250W and for the money they are great. Yeah there are better, more robust, more gobo's, etc..... but punch per pound they are hard to beat. I looked at the 4 scanner 100w party pack but with the deal I got from "my disco supplier" it was better to pay the small amount more and get the higher power units.

Also the bulbs are interchangeable with some of my other lights so less spares to carry. :D

PS. If you wanna know who "my disco supplier" is PM me as I'm not sure the mods like unsolicited advertising. Mods, if it's ok to name my favourite supplier let me know and I'll edit my post.

I also have 4 of the 100w Dynamos and yes, they are bright. I have 2 Dynarocks that are 250w aswell and there is a big difference in brightness.

we have 4 100w dynamos,brilliant for most of the venues we do and would recommend them but in larger venues they can get lost.they are very bright for a 100w light.i havent had any dealings with the 250 version but if i was looking at buying some more scanners i would look at them first.if they are as good as the 100w version only brighter i would not hessitate to buy them

i guess it depends what type of venues you do?

if your typical gig is 100 people, then the 100w ones will do, if you start approaching 200 people or more, then go for the 250w ones

I've done a big school gig with my scanners.

300 people in a huge school hall, and they were fine.

I wouldn't use Halegon Scanners as first choice, LED lighting is latest technology and of course much healthier on the environment.

But, If you want Halegon...make sure you get :

The only thing I don't like about this particular light, is that there is no power output, but that doesn't really matter. It's a fantastic effect really.

I don't reccomend Acme scanners as there is not seperate wheels for colour and gobo, minimising your options. I know one of the Dual scanners doesn't anyway.

ive no experience of the Chauvet

but the Am DJX scans are NOT bright enough! Totally disapointing

Depends if he wants to DMX them. If they will run stand-alone, a combined wheel is fine.

Also, i'd make sure you check your spelling before posting, as a few people on here get edgey when spelling is in-correct!

Neither have i. I think the dynamos are good enough for mobile scanners. :)

LED scanners are getting better! I believe that the ADJ X-Scans are bright. Tom has the ADJ X-Moves and they're the same diodes, so check out the video he has posted in the gallery.

Ollie, for the money try and get a set of second hand Abstract Futurescans and either the hand controller or Club 32 or Club 64 controller. Far more bacng for your buck and much better control.

The dynamos are good but way too fast for most functions and the strobing can be a real pain.
