Ok, not quiet a pensioner, but at 47 I am no spring chicken either.

Been in radio for 25 years and just fancied going into what I always should have, mobile DJ'ing. Going digital route (nurmark DMC2 and DM200 UPS), with CD in backup just in case. Just thought I would pop in and say howdie.:)

I have just received my numark DMC2 and CM200 USB this morning, together with a Kamcase laptop flight case to house it all.

I do have a DJ-tech dual SD card player for emergencies, but I want to have at least 1 CD player - even just a single player, in case anyone approaches me with a CD in hand......:eek:

Although I am an old codger, I am as fresh as a daisy and very much upto the minute with music. I have my Glenn Millar and Andrews sisters mix ready to go. ONLY JOKING! I am basically a 23 year old trapped in a slightly more 'previously owned' body. LOL

Looking for some advise on Speakers next. I have been bombarded with 'helpful' sales patter during a lights demo at my local DJ store. BTW, al the Numark stuff WITh the Kamcase came to the grand total of £405, delivered. Yes, it is all new. Sale on at Phase One.

Welcome along woody Just remember not to go to the top of the hour and start reading out the local weather and news' I worked in radio for a while but unless the phone lines were open i felt like is anyone listening out there.
Seemed very weird to the reaction you get from when your dj ing.

Quick question guys and gals. Now that i have put my Numark DMC2 in the KamKase, and my Numark CM200 USB in the KamKase, and my DJ-Tech S-1 in my KamKase.......

Yes. I still have a sense of humour. It isn't bad actually. Looks the dogs danglies and is just the start. I do want to make sure that everything is exactly how I want it to sound and look BEFORE even thinking about Gigs. I have given myself 6 months to get up to speed. I will then hire a locla hall for the night and set it all up. Play, put it away, move to the other end and do it all again. That way, when it comes to the reral McCoy I should have some experince of the setup re which light goes best where and what are those big speakers actually like?

From what I read on here a lot of the time in play lists and actually played /requests a lot of the time it wont be that relevant to be up to date.;)

Playing music on the radio is totally different to getting people off their backsides and dancing at a Wedding--as im sure you are extremely well aware.:D :D :D

I am 51 and still doing discos.
So long as I can still carry the gear and i am still enjoying it I will keep on doing it.

Your saying you are giving yourself six months to get set up and ready? One thing i learnt straight away is you learn far far far far far quicker doing things for real than in the bedroom. With your radio background alot of the logic you can apply to the mobile discos. Do you know anyone who is already doing mobile discos? Why not pop along with him for a few discos instead? This way too you will be up and running for the busy part of the year instead of smack bang in the middle

Oh, I meant I am allowing 6 months to have everything set up. I will buy a light this week, another next. Speakers next month etc. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who does mobiles myself. However, I do intend to visit several pubs/clubs in my area to see the good, the bad and the downright ugly trying their luck.

I want to use a good set-up from the off and have the ability to go with it. Yes, I could learn as a I go, but then I open myself to mistakes and a rubbish DJ soon gets a reputation as being just that. Not my target.
