Not strictly speaking true
The NEC is bigger than Earls Court 1 & 2 combined, but Hall 20 is about 2/3 - 3/4 the size of Earls Court 2 :P :sj:
I was referring to the hall where BPM takes place, not the entire NEC!

There will be an iron & ironing board available Pam (all hotels have them), you just might have to ask at reception rather than it being in your room. Why not phone & ask? 0844-8013590

Just got back from an enjoyable time at BPM.
It was good to meet again some forum regulars that I've met before, namely Darren (for the first time in 2 years!), Steve (FDDJ) and Tom.
It was also good to meet some new people including Adam F, Scott (SJS discos), Sted and the legend that is Excalibur.
I'm sorry to have missed Corabar Steve & Angela and Penmare Tony (who presumably didn't arrive until after I had to leave).
I don't know how I missed Neil (Deckstar deluxe), as he sent me a text to say which stand he was at & what he was wearing...but I could see no sign of him whatsoever despite standing right in front of the same stand. I guess that one will have to remain a mystery.
Was very sorry to hear from Charlie Brown that he could not make it. Never mind, Charlie...here's looking forward to next time.
I know most of you who went today are staying tonight, so have a great time...and I look forward to seeing the photos!
Apart from meeting some forum people, my other highlight of the day was actually touching the dawn of a new species!

My first visit to BPM and my initial thoughts are:
To be honest I was expecting more of a sales event than a glorified demo suite. Panasonic was just about on every stand and apart from the impromptu rapping from So Solid Crew, I found the whole thing boring.
More scratch djs and vinyl junkies than you can shake a stick at.
Prize draw to one winner to tempt people to stay till the end.
A meeting place for distributors and dealers
Not much in the way of Show Offers.
I even tried to spend money on a set of 4 moving heads and apart from a well known Central London dealer, nowbody else seemed the slighest bit interested.
To be honest I could have done the whole show in 2 hours flat.
Would I go again? NO
Lacy Green was more exciting and rewarding than this event - Sorry but that is how I feel. I'm sure many will disagree with me, but it was not the event for me.

Yep i have to say what a great weekend!!!!
In my opinion well worth booking off the full weekend to be there. Im sure Mark or someone from the BPM can confirm but im sure it was a lot busier this year than any previous year and it was great to see people standing outside from 10.15 on saturday waiting to get in - think it caught a few off guard who were expecting a slow start on saturday morning.
As always the standard of females and outfits (well what there was of them) handing out flyers and on stands was amazing... definatly a service 2 :) :) :) (sorry bit of an in house joke between me luke and adam...think hotel charges lol)
Yes the show wasn't perfect but it was as near as it could be and seems to be building year on year. Well done to all the BPM team.
Having seen it from both sides as an exhibitor and as a DJ having a walk round (took a bit of time away from the deckstand booth stand!!! ) i thought it was great. The layout wasn't too cramped but it didn't feel sparse either - well done to the BPM team as it would have been so easy to try and spread stands out a lot more just to make it look a bigger show. I agree with some of the comments above though and yes it would have been nice to get a few other exhibitors there but that will come with time and at the end of the day it was their loss not being there and i do think BPM will continue to grow into the main show for the DJ industry.
A big thanks to everyone that came over and said hi too - didnt get a great deal of time to chat but as It was really unknown teritory for us to have a stand this year but i'm really please we went with it. The reaction from retailers and djs was great and we've made some very useful contacts for future development of the deckstand booth pro range and some new products and accessories too.
It was also great to get more feedback on both the deckstand booth pro and the new Micro Deckstand Booth as well as our wireless LED RGB flexistrip lighting - it was just a shame i couldn't get the white wool serge LED starcloth for the deckstand booth in time to show off... (it's the same as the standard LED starcloth we do for the booth from the factory in china but in white wool serge) but im sure the photos and videos will be put up as soon as i can and it will be displayed at future shows.
Sorry if i didn't get too long to chat or missed anyone, not to mention getting names wrong and on occasions not always knowing who i was talking to other than a forum member!!!
Also thanks to the SEDA members who managed to twist my arm into joining... (well more a frog marching over than twisting arms :)) Seems they have had a good run recently with the plasa sign ups and BPM sign ups... and getting lots of awareness UK wide not just in the south - perhaps they should think about renaming to SEDA & Beyond, UK & SEDA or just simply UKDA as from chatting it seems they have a growning number of members that aren't based Down south :)
Was good to catch up with NADJ members too.
NOt sure the Ramada hotel knew what hit them either (not to mention Jimmy Spices) as after the show and a quick change there must have been something like 45 DJ's all in the bar from MDD and MDJF - which has to be one of the biggest forum gatherings in quite a while - i was just gutted that i couldn't stay for the meal and night out after as had to be in london for 9am for the first of 2 production meetings today... (I'm currently sat in the van killing time on the laptop watching it pee down outside!) but sure i'll catch up with everyone soon which will probably be next year when the shows start all over again :) :) :)

In regards to the show I think most people on the forum have seen it before and some of the other stuff is way out of our league price wise but the networking and chatting to other like minded DJ's is priceless I think.
Sorry I missed you Rob I was chatting to a sales rep for most of the time we exchanged texts otherwise I'd of come over and said hello. I was for the recording wearing a black polo shirt the whole time saying DECKSTAR DELUXE :P

Once again, you are not aware of the full facts.
Tom doesn't drink and loves his car and also loves to drive.
We also reimbursed him some petrol money at the last show, but must admit, we still owe him for BPM, but I will, next time I see him.

The lad definitely likes driving. So far I've met him at DJSN Leeds, Chesterfield( though he foolishly failed to arrive there via Mansfield. :( :( ), and BPM Birmingham. (There may have been others, but my memory is fallible. :( :o :o )
Dunno about Tom, but I'm a bad passenger. ;) Only a few drivers get the Excalibur seal of approval. Penmare is high on that list.
Edit: Just in case anyone didn't realise, my joke about Tom hiring a coach was indeed just that. A joke. I reckon we all respect the lad , cos he certainly turns up to things a long way from home.

Not this time your not. lol. I stayed over so you all got a lift. Where ever others were going I would of had 4 seats going anyway so it was my pleasure to help out, even if the drive got a little hairy at time.
And also the sat nav work 95% so I was happy with that also. lol.

Yep. I drive to all the shows, even Plasa in London. Parking was £18 but rather that than take a train. lol.

I would if I could buy my licence says I can only carry 3.5 ton so that rules that out. A van like what was used to get from the hotel to Jimmys can be arranged. :) lol
