Anyone using this
http://www.soundsavers.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=17_153&products_id=3298&osCsid=72e49244287bff6c915c1d278f9140b6

I'm after a PA system for wedding's that will also double up for karaoke.
Anyone have any track record with this system.

Thanks.

Sorry no, but a couple of points. The blurb seems to refer to a bigger system. I've heard a McGregor system I think it was here. For the size it was awesome. It also had a Karaoke kit available also. I'd give them a ring.

Anyway, why Karaoke? You can't sing. :p

I've only heard the McGregor, but if the price was right, I'd proibably go for that. The one I heard was astounding, until pushed to the maximum, then it got a bit strained. :( :(

I've heard you sing. Must have been you that wasn't listening. :p

Its not loud enough, those are very low power ratings.

For Tonys needs, this is perfect. :)

This for speech only, not for a full blown disco.

I usually find I need more power for speech than I do for music.

In which case, the sub is pointless.

I find it the other way round, well on my playout system.

If I use a standard SM58 mic, I have to turn the mic channel right down. Where as music is not as loud as a mic.

I just use a cheap passive mic so maybe its output isnt very high.

That might be why then.

As the speaker tops are so small, I would of thought that the sub would of helped with the sound. I know it would obnly be for speach.

Tony was looking at the 8" active W Audio but didnt like the price is I remember.

I was only going by specs of the speakers. :)

Surely a sub wouldn't be the right frequencies for vocals though?

It's a 12" sub/bass unit so probably goes quite high, vocal is around 300hz to 3khz and it's feasable that the sub could go up to about 500hz??

It looks weird anyway!! :D

Same here Tom...although I DO have quite a loud voice...as you know!

As the speaker tops are so small, a higher crossover point for the sub would be needed.

You may use either 80, 100 or 120hz for your RCF sub but I reakon something like 180-250hz could be used to balance the sound out.

Bit like the Bose L1 in a way.

Those small drivers only go down to 180hz I think. I can't find out any specs for them. :(

Ah, OK.

I didn't read the spec, I just noticed it was 2 satellites and a 'sub' .
