Strange phone call

Just had someone with a strong Scottish accent phone me about a personal buisness matter. This was on my buisness mobile which is my number for calling clients and is on my website. I didnt take the call as I was unable to to get to the phone but they left a voice message.

I googled the phone number and a lot of people are getting this. Could be a scam.

Anybody else had anything like this???

Update. Just phoned the bank and the number is another department of the bank. I am talking about Halifax and Bank Of Scotland, just to let you lot know. :)

Need to phone back before 8pm to have a chat. I have just checked my online banking and everything is ok. But i can't withdraw any money at all even though I have plenty in there. Something does seem fishy tbh.

They have probably had a security issue with your account and frozen it to protect you...it happens but shouldn't take long to sort.

I can still make card payments. Does seem odd.

I decided to phone up my bank and tell them I had a strange call. I gave them the number ans it was part of there fraud squad.

I started to giggle. You watch Fonejacker and after that, you don't want to believe any who says that.

My card has been copied but they only got the card number and expiary date.

New card is on the way. :)

Strange, I bank with HBOS and 2 weeks ago someone used my card details for over £1000. New card now and under investigation with the fraud department.

I got a letter from my bank saying that I have gone over my overdraft and need to pay x amount of money. Someone had spent £800 on my card.

So I phoned up the bank and went on my online banking. I found that someone in moscow has spent £1200 of my hard earned money. :eek: :(

On the phone, the fraud department had missed these payments so now I have no money at all. They have extended my overdraft to pay my direct debits.

I have no idea how they got my detalis. Any website I buy from is secure, ALWAYS.


Every card I have with Halifax has now be cloned and I'v had enough of it.

I have my new bank card with me but cant do anything with it as the sort code and account number have to many digits on it. :(


Just thought I would share this and give a warning to anyone buying anything online. Please make sure the website is secure and be careful.

You can reduce the chances of this happening again to virtually nil if you do what I do.

Only ever use your card in cash machines (having checked them for suspicious devices & having checked nobody is looking over your shoulder) and secure online servers.

Also, when not being used, keep your card locked up somewhere safe at home.

I never draw cash. I only ever pay by card with chip and pin and even then, I cover the device so no one can see my pin. The amount of people I see trying there pin numbers in its unreal. Anyone can look, steal the card and job done.


I only ever buy stuff from secure websites.

The thing that gets me is that the fraud department missed some payments, the big ones. Why/how did they miss them??? The lady on the phone even asked me if I habe bought anything from Russia. :eek:. That was then followed by a quick no and then gave them a piece of my mind.

I'm not the one to get annoyed with people but I had to say that every card had I have with them has been cloned and saidare they going to do anything about it. They said nothing. :eek:

So now I have to wait. They lady said that they will get the police involved and if it came to it, would I appear in court.

That's very unlikely to happen, Tom.

Fraud on bank accounts is so common these days...if every case went to court there would be a waiting time to get each case heard of many years!

Hopefully they'll refund you soon.
