In "another place" where details of party venues are listed we've noticed a massive surge in hits and enquiries this week - up around 250% on a week ago.
Last year this surge came inbetween Christmas and New Year but this year it's later. Folks are now suddenly out there looking for information on venues, catering and other party services... this should hopefully translate into more enquiries and bookings over the coming few weeks as they get to the bottom of the list (and budget :Censored: ) and look for their evening entertainment.
Just thought I'd share this nugget with the doom-mongers :D

Good to hear Martin.
Yes its a post Xmas explosion of enquiries and ive lost count now over the last week.:D
However ( as a doom monger realist) I would confirm that people are now booking my top priced show enthusiastically then having second thoughts when asked to supply their full details to draw up the Contract and part with their cash.
One has even said go ahead then promptly sourced an agent who has contacted errr --------me:D
I think ( hopefully wrongly ) once the post Xmas enquiries have come out the woodwork then things will quiten down.
In the meantime fill your boots--I certainly am this week;)

Same here.
As far as I can remember, I've never had as many enquiries in a 7 day period as I have in the last 7 days.
They've lead to 3 bookings so far as well...lovely!

My ears are hurting and I already took the decision to sit several hours ago :D It's been a good day for business. Maybe some "green shoots" showing?

You're lucky, as that NEVER happens with me!
I've had to turn down 4 bookings this week alone due to already being booked on the dates they wanted...and a couple of the dates were 7 or 8 months away!

Has your website fallen off Google?
I've had to turn away all but one enquiry this week for various reasons from being fully booked to being well out of our area. The enquiries are coming in, it's a shame we can't take any of them!
As always, pointed them in this direction.

Nope, still up there, same as always. I'll re-submit it anyway just to see...
I'm getting enquiries from the day job though, so might end up working Saturdays on that instead for the time being.

No!
Things aren't ALWAYS this manic...I just find January is a very busy time for enquiries & bookings.
I'm sure things will get back to normal soon (hopefully by then the diary will be looking nice & full!)

This is something I have been thinking about. Currently I have a maximum of 3 rigs out at any one time. I have been thinking about the way forward over the past couple of weeks and sought a lot of advice.
I have however decided that I would prefer to offer the more 'personal' service and not put out any more rigs but try and capitalise on what I already have. I don't think there is any right and wrong answer to this. There are many multi-ops who are succesful and likewise there are many single ops who make a good living. A problem I have encountered is that many of my 'prefered disco' venues always ask for myself or a particular dj. Would be interesting as to what others think.

As for actual discos for January, I don't have any!
None next month either!
My next disco booking at the moment is not until 7th March
