Following on again from great advise received on here I sought out another amp today. I have just bought a Peavey PV-1500, in a proper flight case. Used 5 times only. £240 all in.

PLEASE someone tell me I did ok with this one?:beer3:

Now looking at getting some Class-D's when they come back into stock.

I'd say you did very well! I use the same amp with some peavey ul15's and they're great. Considering you got it in a proper case is a good deal. Brand new ones without a case start from about £315 and case arent cheap either.

Now, what are the chances....... I went car booting this morning for the first time in about 5 years. Just wandering. Spotted an identical disco light to one I picked up in my bundle on friday. No idea what it is called. It is blackl, heavy lots of glass mini panels on the front and it goes woooooo. Anyway, £12 and I am havbing that. needs a clean inside and a new bulb. Sorted. Not keeping it, but with two the same that has got to be easier to sell on later. Also picked up yet more CD's from 70's and some NOW Cd's. 11 Cds for £5, all originals.

The Peavey is 300w per side at 8ohm, so The class D's at 350w should be quite happy.

I run a 500w per side amp into the cabs in the second link, and it's a perfectly suitable match. I run all my 350w cabs with an amp that size, no bother. :thumbs_up:

Right, today I received my 4ft Prolight stand and my Peavey amp. The amp is very solid looking, and pretty heavy but it is in the full flightcase. Very nice indeed and I look forward to actually trying it properly.

The stand is ok. Nothing special. To be honest, I could have made better myself if I still had my mig welder. But at £75 delivered it is alright. One plastic foot hanging off, so some superglue needed already. the securing bolts are very flimsy. Looks like they have used m6 nuts everwhere on the frame, I would have used M8 at least. There you go. Being ultra fussy now.

On the plus side, the stand goes together in literally a minute and looks the business. Do you guys use ply board shelves over the cross braces? I am going to cut some 9mm ply up and spray it black to match. I like to have a solid surface to work on.

The build quality goes Prolight, Giraffe, Ultimax. There's nothing at all wrong with a Giraffe. Until you see an Ultimax. ;)

Shelves, yes. Some folk cover them in carpet. Whatever floats your boat, but personally I couldn't envisage not having shelves.

I do. I also have 1x2inch lats running the whole lengh, which makes sure the boards dont slide about.

I dont have shelves on my desktop as the amp is in a case which is more than enough to sit nicely on the two metal poles. I rather have anything else sitting on there apart from my power unit for the lights. Next thing to consider prehaps woodie is your lights and how your going to keep the cables tidy. Everyone here thinks differently it appears about cables and how important it is to tidy them up correctly. I use black gaffa tape at the moment as the stand is black and so are the cables, however i do know some people use velco straps which is properly a better choice in the long run.

I want to obviously be able turn each individual light on or off, so presumably a distribution point with toggle switches? I will be DMX'ing as well, so that will require more cabling, although that is basically daisy chained with a terminator at the far end.

I am not too keen on gaffer tape and wiring. I would rather custom make plugs to the rail and custom trim cable lengths from each light as appropriate. Mains power I would think will be run up through one of the uprights. Easy enough to sort out.

Anyone have any special way they do it?

You'd be surprised if done correctly how unnoticeable the gaffa tape is but each to their own. I have extended all my power leads for my lights so they reach across the top bar and down the back of the two side bars (that hold up the t bar) into a acme power unit which you can turn each light off and on. If your going to dmx them up you'll properly be better just linking them all up to the controller so you can just black out lights rather than cutting the power to them like i do at the moment.

thats the unit i use can plug up to eight lights into it just make sure that you dont overload it. i.e discharge lights or strobes. More than ok to handle my mainly led lighting and as said before it sits nicely on top of my amp case so its easily reacheable and you can rack mount it too should you go down that path.

paid 59 quid for me only six months ago :(

For that price you cant go wrong even if its just a back up. Please note its euro inputs not the standard unit plug.

I do know some djs that use 4-ways on the stands themselves and paint them black but i personally dont like that at all but as i said before each to their own!
