New Frontage

After my recent thread "Damaged Lightscreen" it has been decided to replace them as they are getting to heavy and bulky (or we are getting old and out of shape:eek:)

So my new challenge is to find a new replacement frontage as soon as possible. I wanted your ideas and suggestions on what to go for.

Before we start the S&S booth is out of the question. budget is at maximum about £200 but that's flexible in the case I see something I'm really impressed with.

New frontage needs to be strong and offer protection to my gear while looking attractive and professional. Well as being smaller and lighter then the old retro light screens.

Have been looking at the star cloths but haven't been impressed by one yet. Also love the LED light screens but don't really want to spend £400-£500.

Ok some suggestions for you.

1. Plain black cloth looks neat and hides the cables etc. Very cheap and easy to clean.

2. Have a look at the new NJD starcloths. They are only £100 and they are very effective. They are made with a wool serge material that is much nicer looking than the other alternatives.

3. Go for the banner option, not my cup of tea but I know a lot DJ's on the forum use them.

4. Back projected cloth. using a wide spread light or led par simply have a white cloth that changes colour with a light on it from behind. Used to use it and worked very well. Mind you stopped using it whn I switched to metal decks unit as the bars where visable through the front.

5. Make some new light screens using the surplus of christmas lighting available some mdf some cheap black carpet and a few hours with the power tools.

A few ideas hope they help.

Think I've just seen a you tube video of this. looks nice, seems cheap enough but the only thing I don't like how they crease up easily.

Trying to move away from light screens. As much as I like them there to heavy to carry around.

10x better than the prolight which I previously had (still have, for kids parties).

Heavy cloth construction doesn't wrinkle. Keep it folded nicely in its bag and it'll look like new each time you pull it out. Get one of those lint roller thingies (99p Asda) to run over it in case it does get a little fluffy or dusty from time to time.

The thing I like most about it is the controller has dozens of programs and you can have the LEDs at various brightnesses too. The same controller can link to several cloths - I have a 3m x 2m backdrop cloth too and when they both run the same pattern it's very cool.

You won't regret it. Shop around as there's a big variation in price. Mine came from CPC who were cheapest at the time.

Dunno. I use the 1.7m stand and have to wrap the cloth back on itself by about 6 inches on one end to cover just the front with no "wraparound" ... not usually a problem for me to have the sides uncovered.

I would guess that with a narrower stand there might be enough cloth to cover both sides as well.

The cloth has lots of ties attached to it around all 4 sides - it's just a case of position it where you want it, then get tying knots and bows. Takes a few minutes to make it look spot on, but it's worth it.

No. No bar. The cloth is much heavier than the prolight cloth and hangs much better.

So V.V. what do you attach the cloth to at the top?

I wrap it over the top bar of my deckstand, then tie it to the middle bar. The ties are plenty long enough.

If I had the ultimax curtain pole thingy, I could tie it to that instead I guess.

Iv just been looking at buying the Rhino 6' Pro Disco Stand. Now my question is due to watching the guy in the hat, video on the njd starcloth im thinking its a bit big. How will i get it around my stand.
Looks like that cloths covers a whole wall. Do they sell a smaller size lol

6ft = 1.83m

My 1.7m stand is a tad too narrow for the cloth, therefore it would fit perfectly on a 1.83m stand.

Don't confuse the deckstand cloth with the larger 3x2m backdrop cloth.

You should note that the cloth in the video in the 3m by 2m backdrop star cloth not the cloth we are talking about in this thread. The one we are talking about is the Deck stand star cloth.

Posted the videos as there is no review on the deck stand version and they are very similar apart from size and amount of L.E.D's. Same patterns, controller e.c.t
