Lighting thoughts

I am sure this has been covered to death in various places, but as the weeks go by peoples opinions change and new items come to the fore. So.....

As you all know by now, I am in the process of assembling my first rig. I want to do it right and nice too, so the kit so far is:

Numark DMC2 controller
Numark CM200 USB mixer
Peavey PV-1500 power amp
Class-D 158 speakers

I am adding a 4ft 'Girraffe' type stand later this week.

I am now looking at the lighting potential. I have a few ideas, but there is so much to choose from. So, what do you guys think of this:

2 x ACME Dynatwin, 1x ACME Impossibled, 1 x ACME Miracled, 1 x mirror ball. DMX Chauvet DMX-55 controller.

Good? Bad? Ugly?

1st of all i think you need a symmetrical light show!

2nd if i was you i would have it like this.

Well, I was thinking more of the mirror ball centre, Imposibled one side and Miracled the other. The two Dyantwins furthest away each side.

As for the lighting.
thumbs up for the Dynatwin`s and the Impossibled, I would tend to leave it at that and add a couple of LED pars`s.

I wouldnt bother with the MicacLED if youve got the ImpossibLed. You get far too many dots IMHO.

Agree with CJ, it needs to be symetrical.

Id go for this:

Mirrorball - Dynatwin - ImpossibLED - Dynatwin - Mirrorball

Im fairly sure that the Zoom and Dynatwin is the same unit in a different colour (or atleast do the same thing) (sorry CJ)

Im sure that its Tony Scott who has the best location for the mirror balls. Ive seen some pictures with them looking quality on the outside.

Yep, I can see what you are saying.

I forgot. I do already have 1 x Acme Firebird and 1 x Acme LED boogie. The Firebird would kill an elephant if it fell on it! I may or may not work these into the picture so to speak.

Woodie your gonna change your mind about lights from your experience however one light everyone seems to have is the impossibled so i would get this, personally i have this pointed at the floor as i like the effect. The mircaleds i have two of and they are my centre piece (either side of dead centre of my 4ft goal post where i have the kam cluster). At least one par can is a must as at the worse you can use for uplighting which is a great effect. If you wanted to do something different from most djs and stick with the led is the mystics which im think i prefer to my current mircaleds.

Why not get the impossibled now do a few discos and you'll get an idea of what your set up needs for lights the common thing to do is have too many lights.

Well, I managed to bag a brand new Impossibled for £105 delivered, which I am pleased with. Should be here by the weekend. That's one more bit done.

Slightly worried that nobody has said anything about this £105 Impossibled. Is there something i should know? My local shop wanted £145, cheapest elsewhere was £129 so I thought this was very good for brand new, delivered to me.

Sounds like a good deal. Where did you purchase it?

It was my old friend Ebay. It is a shop rather than an individual, so if it turns up used or anything other than brand spanking - back it goes. I have a large 10ft x 7ft hall (my spare room) to test it in , so that's all sorted then !:daft:

No it wasn't, although I did buy the stand off them because the stand is new. I don't do 'B' grade or 'ex demo'. LOL.:D
